2022 Winterfest at Wunder Garten kicks off Friday

“Wunder Garten (1101 First St. NE) will host its 6th annual WINTERFEST holiday festival from Friday, December 2, 2022 through Friday,December 23, 2022. Whether you’re in the mood for hot cocktails at the city’s most festive atmosphere.  It truly is a Winter Wonderland of DC

Find everything from Christmas trees, to cozy fire pits and a hot chocolate bar, to holiday craft activities surrounded in a completely holiday decorated Winter Wunderland for that perfect Instagram selfie or that holiday card.

There’s nothing better than curling up to a cozy fire pit with some spiked hot cocoa or a Hot Toddy! Wunder Garten will feature its toasty holiday hot beverages, including spiked hot cider with fireball, peppermint hot cocoa with a candy cane, and mulled wine.

The Giving Tree Christmas tree lot will be back again at Wunder Garten selling a wide variety of fresh-cut trees – from Fraser Firs, Balsam Firs, Douglas Firs, White Pine, Scotch Pine and Blue Spruce. Tree sizes range from tabletop to 10+ feet. Giving Tree has staff on hand to help tie trees to your car, and parking is available through L street.  Tree lot hours: Mondays thru Thursdays 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.; Fridays 4 p.m. – 9 p.m.; Saturdays & Sundays noon – 9 p.m. 2021 was The Giving Tree Project’s most successful year yet, raising more than $46,000 which was donated to the h3 Project, a DC-based non-profit which provides support and connects people experiencing homelessness to services.

On December 6th, Wunder Garten will host the European Union’s Holiday Food Tour from 5:30pm to 8:30pm. In partnership with Wunder Garten and in celebration of the third edition of the EU Holiday Cookbook, the European Union Delegation and 15 EU Embassies will provide samples of dishes, drinks, and desserts that are traditionally enjoyed across Europe during the holiday season. Come grab a beer from the bar, cozy up next to a warm fire pit, and take a culinary tour through Europe–from Italian tortelli di zucca to Polish kulebiak, Romanian sarmale to Estonian kringel, Cypriot commandaria, Dutch advocaat, Danish risalamande and more! Celebrate the scary Austrian & German folklore Krampus with Krampusnacht on December 10th. Krampusnacht DC is an annual inclusive holiday event that benefits the Wanda Alston Foundation!  Traditionally a night where parents dress up as Krampus and scare their children into being good during the holiday season. America’s equivalent of Santa Claus is always watching. Krampusnacht at Wunder Garten will bring a night full of terror and fright of several attendees dressed as the giant Krampus. Adding to the festivities will include circus like performers throughout the night  such as stilt walkers and LED performers. As well as one giant dance party!

In addition to WINTERFEST’S annual tree lot, hot drinks – spiked hot chocolate & mulled wine – heated cabanas, and fire pits, check out the Holiday Card Making for Veterans night on Thursday, December 6 with Clock Out DC, every Sunday at 12pm is Yappy Hour, perfect opportunities for some holiday social media pictures!  Finish off the holiday season with a paint-and-sip on Tuesday, December 20th with Creative Flavor.
