“Box Alarm 1200 block Owen St NE. Smoke showing from 2nd floor 2 story middle row dwelling.

Update Box Alarm 1283 Owen Place NE. Fire involves1 room top floor 2 story middle row dwelling. Fire has been knocked down. Checking for extension. No injuries reported.

Box Alarm 1200 block Owen Place under control. No injuries. Checking on displacements. Fire investigators enroute to determine cause.”

“On Monday, August 20, 2018 at approximately 1200 am, members of the Fifth District, along with DC Fire and EMS responded to the 1300 block of North Capitol Street, NW for a building fire.

The fire was extinguished; however, there were several people displaced from their residences due to damage caused by the fire. There were no injuries reported on the scene.

Temporary road closures were put into place, but all have since re-opened.”

From DC Fire and EMS:

“6 adults & 5 children have been displaced as a result of the Working Fire 1300 block North Capital St NW. We have notified the @RedCrossNCR to respond to the scene.” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I was on a BestBus that caught on fire yesterday from NYC to DC (4 pm bus out of Penn station). The fire occurred just outside on Trenton. Thanks goodness everyone was OK, but there was at least one person with a non-life threatening injury. but we think that it blew a tire and by the time the drive got pulled over there was smoke and flames pouring out from under the bus. Everything under the bus and left up top was a total loss.

“Box Alarm 2400 block 18th St. NW. #DCsBravest on scene with smouldering fire in the flooring 2nd floor of a 3 story building. No injuries reported.”

“2nd Alarm Fire now 3000 block 11th St NW. Heavy fire rear porches in 2 two story row houses that has extended inside and into attics. No injuries at this time”

“Update 2nd Alarm 3000 block 11th St NW. Radiant heat also ignited roofline and cornice of home on Columbia Rd across the alley from the fire. We have contained that and extinguishing pockets of fire in original buildings.”

“2 Alarm Fire 3000 block 11th St NW under control. We have 6 confirmed displacements needing assistance from @RedCrossNCR. 2 additional residents from house on Columbia Rd. displaced but making alternate living arrangements. Firefighters undergoing decontamination and rehab.” (more…)
