“Dear PoPville,

Scores of these vehicles are literally parked taking up the entire right lane of these thoroughfares during rush hour! It adds like 40 minutes to my commute every day.

I do not see them being towed. I have seen some of the same cars with tickets but they always come back.

Because my commute, I’m specifically concerned about the ones around the mall, but perhaps there other hotspots too.

How is this allowed?”

“Dear PoPville,

I’m looking to host a catered dinner for a birthday and am looking for a rooftop to rent or use. Any suggestions or places you recommend?? I’ve hit dead end after dead end. Thanks in advance!”

“Dear PoPville,

Other than McDonald’s, is there anywhere in DC that sells good old fashion, chocolate/vanilla twist soft serve? The ice cream stand at Union Market used to, but sadly, they don’t anymore. I’m a northeast girl who just loves her a soft serve in a cone on a hot day, and it is one thing DC’s ice cream scene is sorely lacking. Any tips on where to find some would be appreciated.”

“Dear PoPville,

If you are driving your way through a crosswalk, as you will often find yourself doing FROM THE DAY YOU BECOME a licensed driver – instead of inching your vehicle closer and closer to the pedestrian who is justly crossing within the allotted time… WAIT and allow the crosswalk to clear. Observe the traffic signal. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

My wife and I were among the owners that lost our dog yesterday at District Dogs during the floods. I won’t say how many, but the manager at the Humane Rescue Alliance where her body was taken said that there were many others that also died. There is an immense amount of grief so many pet parents like us must be going through, and I’m hoping I can turn to this incredible community for help in crowdsourcing local resources for people like us suffering the trauma of unexpectedly losing our furry family members. We aren’t even in town right now, as she was being boarded during a trip, but we are headed back today and would love some help when we get back and the immense sense of loss fully kicks in.

Thank you to all of you who responded to my comment on the original post, offering your condolences. Even just a few words of compassion eases this pain ever so slightly.”

Ed. Note: If those in pain/grieving wish to speak with OP with directly instead of commenting please contact me at [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch.

“Dear PoPville,

Last month, my neighbors and I were notified that our building was under contract with a new buyer. This kicked off the Tenants Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA), which is a months-long process where tenants have the chance to form a tenant’s association in order to purchase the building themselves, find a different buyer, or negotiate specific terms with the new buyer (ex: rent concessions, a buyout to move, repairs etc).
