My building is being sold to Frank Emmet Property Management. Does anyone know how they are as property managers? My building is currently rent-controlled.
Thank you!!”

“Dear PoPville,
My wife and I were among the owners that lost our dog yesterday at District Dogs during the floods. I won’t say how many, but the manager at the Humane Rescue Alliance where her body was taken said that there were many others that also died. There is an immense amount of grief so many pet parents like us must be going through, and I’m hoping I can turn to this incredible community for help in crowdsourcing local resources for people like us suffering the trauma of unexpectedly losing our furry family members. We aren’t even in town right now, as she was being boarded during a trip, but we are headed back today and would love some help when we get back and the immense sense of loss fully kicks in.
Thank you to all of you who responded to my comment on the original post, offering your condolences. Even just a few words of compassion eases this pain ever so slightly.”
Ed. Note: If those in pain/grieving wish to speak with OP with directly instead of commenting please contact me at [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch.

“Dear PoPville,
Last month, my neighbors and I were notified that our building was under contract with a new buyer. This kicked off the Tenants Opportunity to Purchase Act (TOPA), which is a months-long process where tenants have the chance to form a tenant’s association in order to purchase the building themselves, find a different buyer, or negotiate specific terms with the new buyer (ex: rent concessions, a buyout to move, repairs etc). “Dear PoPville,
Recently looked at Apple Maps to see that the Yellow Line is apparently resuming service to Greenbelt on Sept. 11? Looked around to see if Metro made any announcements but couldn’t find any as of yet. (more…)

Maggie sends Saturday: “As of this morning, looks like the 2-5 year old playground is closed, potentially because the fence is damaged? If so, seems to bad to close the full thing for that?”

“Dear PoPville,
I was wondering if there are any food challenges left in DC? The most relevant items I could find on Google are from 2011 and 2016. I’m thinking fun / gluttonous things like eat a 5 lb burrito and get a shirt, put down a 40 oz steak in 40 minutes and get a photo on the wall, etc. Are there any left in DC??”

Ed. Note: Wait, what? I’ve never seen a parking space intentionally designed to go into the cross walk, what the heck is up with that?
“Dear PoPville,
As I have many times before, I parked in a legal street spot on 21st and R streets NW. The space is designed to protrude slightly into the pedestrian crosswalk. However, this was the first time I’d gotten a ticket here. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
I just spotted International Park this summer, but every time I try to walk my dog there I see a sign saying the park is “temporarily closed.” Any idea why it’s closed and when it will open? Or is this not a public park and only opens for events by the surrounding embassies? Something else?” (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
I’m trying to renew my registration before it expires at the end of the month and I took my car to the self-service vehicle inspection station over the weekend. The kiosk issued a temporary window sticker but I keep getting this message online: (more…)

Queso from Lulu’s Winegarden
A few folks were saddened by Mexicue’s sudden closing (and a few were not.) Nevertheless a few folks mentioned the queso and Allie asks where to find the:
“best queso in town? Limitations: queso *must* be white; chips must also be good.”
