I am currently staying out near the end of the D6 bus line. Today on my way home, the bus driver stopped twice and idled for 5 minutes at random stops. I asked what was wrong and they showed me a screen saying they were ahead of schedule and had to stop in order to “not leave anyone at the upcoming stops.” (more…)

While I’ve lived in DC for a while now, I’m newly pursuing my art career and am trying to navigate makers markets and festivals in DC. I was wondering if any artists out there have recommendations for how to get their name out there / how to start participating in in-person events? I’d love to set up a table at a makers market at a brewery or bar.”

Not a DC resident, but I do spend a lot of time ferrying my partner to medical appointments in Foggy Bottom. We hate cars too, but when he has a medical procedure, he needs to be driven (and prefers not to be vomiting in the vehicle of a stranger so that knocks out rideshare). I’m a #freeparkingisntfree adherent so I’m down with paying for parking, but why doesn’t DC make it easier? (more…)

They smell like weed. They’re full of trash and pet hair. And ever since Car2Go/ShareNow left North America during the pandemic, they also have no competition. Yes, readers, the French-owned awkwardness known as Free2Move is now pretty much DC’s only workable car sharing option. Oh sure, Zipcars exist, but they don’t touch the convenience of leaving a Free2Move in any legal space. And don’t get me started on Turo, which sounds like a great way to get into a lawsuit with the stranger who owns the car. What we need are robust competitors.
