It sucks to live in a society where O feel compelled to suggest a post on this, but since I figure it’s better to be prepared than end up sorry — can a reader recommend a local class that teaches ‘tween and teenaged kids about, eg, best practices & “street smarts” for personal safety (in public, in interactions with known adults and also unfamiliar kids) and some practical self-defense practices? I was walking in Meridian Hill/Malcolm X Park last Monday (3/18) and I noticed this line of trash and sticks on the upper level towards the Joan of Arc statue on the 15th St. side. I was also at the park that weekend and didn’t see it then, but I think I have seen something similar there in the past. Does anyone know what it is?”
