“Dear PoPville,

Wondering if readers can be of assistance: we just bought a condo in a 4 unit building, which means that our building has to contract for their own trash removal, according to DC law. I’ve been googling around and looking for advice online on how to proceed without much luck besides the official 311 FAQs, so thought your readers may be able to help.

First, we’re the first occupants of the building, so is there a chance we can get DC pickup at least until the 4 units fill up? (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I live in an building above a bar/ restaurant. I Have talked to my leasing office, ABRA, the cops and the bar itself, all more than once, about the amount of noise that comes through my floor (mostly on weekends but occasionally weekdays). There has been no solution it seems because that problem still persists and it is so loud I can’t sleep at all. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I am following up on the bike incident that happened some time ago. I heard back from the officer investigating the case. He told me that, because it was not caught on camera, the US attorney’s office is not following through with the case.

I was told my only option is civil court, which is somewhat of a bummer. I am not seeking money, but justice. I dislike that the assailant is a DC security guard with a badge they can flash and, more troubling, a deadly weapon. Since civil court is used to seek damages, compensation is really my only avenue, and I did not seek medical attention after the incident to document any sort of physical harm. I was wondering if any of your readers might have suggestions for a lawyer that would take their fee from the damages only if the case was won. Thanks.”

“Dear PoPville,

My boss just completed 30 years at our employer last month (huge feat)! We are throwing a surprise lunch for her and she loves white chocolate macadamia nut cookies; however, the bakeries I’m aware of serve mainly cake and cupcakes. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to find these cookies?”

“Dear PoPville,

I unfortunately have food intolerances that require me to be on a restrictive, low FODMAP diet, in order to manage a long term digestive problem. It is NOT a lifestyle choice. Most restaurants are excellent at helping me to find something suitable. Chaplin’s Restaurant did a great job a few nights ago.

Last night I asked our server at Scott’s on F St NW (formerly Co Co Sala) if they had anything without onion or garlic, and I was told that everything had those things, but maybe the nuts and olives starter would be okay. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

We have a beautiful, live, 6 ft Christmas tree. We are leaving town early next week and would love to pass it along to someone in need … or just someone who hasn’t had time to buy one. I tried calling a few neighborhood churches, but they declined to take it.

Any advice on finding a new home for this tree?”

If you know of a worthy home please email me at [email protected] and I’ll connect you with OP.

Thanks to Samantha for sending this morning:

“Hey PoPville any idea what this is about on 18th between K and L NW? People with orange vests are directing people into each of the lanes telling people to use their phones/headphones “at their own risk”

Sara shares with us on Friday:

“Hey Uber I’d love to know how taking me all the way to DC when Im just going from Alexandria to S.Arlington fit into your “optimal efficiency” and “convenience” claims with UberPool.

PoPville is it just me that gets these crazy routes that make zero sense with UberPool in the DMV area? It’s like they’re completely unaware of traffic patterns in here”

Ed. Note: The early word was that she is definitely not alone. What’s the weirdest route that’s happened to you?
