“Dear PoPville,

I hope everyone is well and thank you for your service. As coronavirus masks are not easy to find, and not everyone has the materials to make one at home, I thought it might be good for the community to know where you can find coronavirus masks.

I learned today, that Lucas Tailor and Cleaner, in Georgetown (1520 Wisconsin Ave, NW), is making and selling coronavirus masks. They are currently selling 3 masks for $15, and 5 masks for $20.”

If folks know of other places, please leave in the comments, thanks.

“Dear PoPville,

I’d love to find out what the status is of daycares charging families. Currently ours is closed but charging full price for families to keep their spot, or else we have to drop out of the daycare altogether. I’ve heard of other daycares closing and not charging. What are people’s experiences?”

“Dear PoPville,

I have a severally disturbed/manic neighbor in my condominium complex who has wrapped me and my boyfriend into his mental delusions, despite us having never met this individual. On multiple occasions he has threatened physical violence (“I’m going to slit your throat; “You’re never going to make it out of your unit alive”; etc), attempted to kick in my front door to the point of physical damage, destroyed my electronic key pad to enter my unit, thrown racial/homophobic epithets, shouted these threats in the parking lot outside of my window to cajole us to look outside. To be clear, we’ve never spoken to this individual: outside of these instances, we’ve only even seen him in the hallway once, but according to him I am sneaking into his home at night to stab him with hypodermic needles while he sleeps. “Dear PoPville,

Do you or any of your readers know of a local organization or group that is accepting financial contributions towards PPE for DC healthcare workers? Not donating actual supplies (although obviously great if people can do that too).”

“Dear PoPville,

Wondering if you have heard of any DC restaurants that will be making traditional Easter meals for pick-up/delivery? I was planning to cook myself, but would love to support a local restaurant if possible!”

and

“I was wondering if you’ve seen any restaurants advertising Passover dinners for delivery? I saw Call Your Mother has one for pick up but we were wondering if places like Sababa would be doing anything for the holiday next week.”

“Dear PoPville,

Thx to DC residents doing their part + keeping $$ in our local food economy

I want to give a huge shout-out to all the DC residents out there who have stepped up to support their local farmers + food producers during this pandemic. I’m amazed by + grateful to all the folks getting local food delivery in an effort to “flatten the curve” and help local food producers through this rough patch. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I am looking for some guidance and help. I never realized I lived in an apartment with thin walls but now that everyone is home all day, it’s a reality I can’t escape.

My neighbors, a young couple, fight constantly. Not just the normal bickering that we all do with our significant others from time to time but full blown screaming, cursing, stomping matches. It’s daily. It’s hourly even. They both sound irate and they let each other know they are and it seems anything can set one off (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

RCN is expanding into our neighborhood in DC and has offered us certain “courtesy services” for a utility easement to run power from our house to the street. Have any other readers dealt with a similar situation? We’d love to have internet/cable options other than Comcast but want to make sure we’re making a good long term decision.

Side note: Earlier this morning Caroline wrote: “Xfinity internet outage near 14th and W… anyone else experiencing this?” Others noted Bloomingdale was affected too. How has everyone’s internet been running the last couple weeks? Notice any changes?

“Dear PoPville,

I have a real concern. My really good friend of 20 years and neighbor is an infectious disease doctor who is risking her life every day dealing with the Covid-19. I am sure she was super happy with the Mayor’s decision to put everyone on stay at home orders.

However, I woke up this morning and private construction crew on a building next to ours is still at work. There are approximately 50 people outside our house at all times because of this. I’ve contacted 911 but they said they cant do anything. I then contacted 311 and the exchange with the person who answered was pretty much its my fault for choosing to live next to a construction site. I have lived here 6 years and the past 2 years this construction has taken place and will not stop. They even got around working Sundays on a few occasions. How is this okay? How are they essential? They are claiming that status even though its a privately owned property.

“Dear PoPville,

What (if any) recourse do I have if I have a neighbor who has a very high likelihood of having Covid 19 (close relative is a confirmed case and she is now feeling sick) who is not taking quarantine seriously? She says she is quarantining but we live in an apartment building and I saw her chatting with her nanny in the lobby. I am concerned that a. She is using public spaces and b. She is still having her nanny run errands for her and coming in and out of the building. We addressed it with her and it did not go well…”
