UPDATE form Over Under:

“Our sportsbook provider has chosen to cease operations in Washington, D.C., leading us to temporarily suspend sports betting as we search for a new partner. Rest assured, we will honor all existing bets and pay out any winning wagers. In the meantime, Over-Under Sports Bar and Rooftop Lounge remains fully operational, showcasing all football games and more in a relaxed setting in the heart of the Nation’s Capital. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause, but look forward to being back online as soon as possible.

“Dear PoPville,

In my alley, there is a large single story building (not a house) with more than a dozen padlocked storage units. Over the past several months several units have been broken into, with items stolen and bulk trash (and property) left in the alley. This cycle repeats after several alley cleanings. The storage facility owner is (as best we can tell) non responsive- some theorize that he is moved away or unable to take care of the property. The facility remains unsecured and additional units are broken into every few weeks. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

A 20% service charge at a restaurant is not uncommon these days, but this from Etto was a new one for me. If you’re going to add a 20% fee and then encourage tipping on top of that, maybe you should just raise your prices? It feels misleading to advertise a price on the menu and then ask the customer to add 30-40% more once the bill comes.

“Dear PoPville,

I live in DC and my Baltimore-based employer messed up my tax forms (which I noticed and brought to their attention BEFORE I had to file). I’ve found myself in need of a tax lawyer/advocate to help with getting some stuff ironed out with DC. Any recommendations for tax pros who can help me get through some DC red tape? (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

After October 31st, WMATA will no longer subsidize private car services through the After-Hours Commuter Services Program by Lyft/Lyft Shared, following the addition of 14 new 24/7 bus routes last year. While the additional bus services might help some, unfortunately, this change will significantly impact service industry workers, who rely on the program for safe, reliable transportation between 12:00am and 4:00am. We are concerned with how and why this decision was made, as it puts workers at greater risk for late-night violence, particularly during the hours when crime is more common and we are trying to get home safely. “Dear PoPville,

The massive condo building next door has banned smoking on its property two months ago so now the sidewalk along the building and just south of it (right outside my tiny-by-comparison building) gets several smokers everyday outside with smoke billowing in to our open windows attempting to enjoy the fall temperatures and adjacent woods. While I think it’s great for them, they’ve banned smoking it’s become everyone else’s problem. Instead of having their smokers smoke in their tree circled smoking area they’ve resorted to congregating on the sidewalk, taking up residence at a local pocket park, smoking right outside my building (just south, and just off property of their building) and leave cigarette butts everywhere. I pick up at least 10 per day and this is just in the path of my dog walking. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

This is the second tree to be taken down on our a main street that USED to be tree lined. I asked about the first one and never got a response. This is absolutely ludicrous and I expect an immediate response from the city. Why are these trees being taken down? (more…)
