“Dear PoPville,

Last year I noticed my knockout roses acting really weird. Hard to describe. But they looked almost… furry? The leaves started to get really narrow and there were a bunch more of them than normal. They just looked really shaggy. So I asked some gardening friends and they said that my roses had a virus called Rose Rosette Disease, possibly spread by mites, and that I needed to immediately dig up the plant by the roots and kill it before it spread. I did, but then I started noticing just how wide spread the disease was around town. DC has always loved its roses, they’re everywhere, and every knockout rose I saw had the same disease. (more…)

“Wedding dress alterations?”

“Dear PoPville,

I ended up with an off-the-rack wedding dress and need to get it altered. It’s pretty fancy so I am nervous to take it just anywhere. I was wondering if the good people of Popville could suggest any good businesses they’ve worked with to alter a wedding dress (or any fancy gowns) in the DMV — preferably in DC, MoCo, or PG? Thank you in advance!”

One of the building managers chased, CAUGHT HIM, dragged him to @DCPoliceDept
officer. Said, we have multiple videos of him stealing bikes and packages.

Officer wouldn’t book the guy. “Where’s the video?”

I have a pair of jeans that are generally in good shape but the stitching is coming off the back pockets. The store where i bought them used to do free repairs (on hold during COVID) and I’m not sure a regular dry cleaner/tailor could handle resewing pockets on denim. Any suggestions for denim repair in the area? Preference for DC but can do suburbs if needed.”
