When the building manager took chase, another person called the cops.
The @DCPoliceDept officer who responded to the call said “I can’t hold him because I don’t have evidence.” Our building staff said, “let us show you the videos.
@DCPoliceDept Officer said, “that’s detective work. I’m not a detective.”
He wouldn’t take the name or information of the suspect. He let the theif go, with a backpack full of packages. Officer instead interrogated our building manager (who is a POC).
Unbelievable.
TL;DR — Following series of thefts in our building, one of us caught the thief, presented to officer, asked for help. Police officer let the guy go without taking name or info despite us having video & other evidence. Why? ”
