Ed. Note: Have gotten a few reports like this on our twitter too.

“Dear PoPville,

My husband and I had a Covid exposure over the weekend. We picked up a PCR test at the West End library on Tuesday and submitted the sample in the outside collection bin at 6:02pm on Tuesday. I know this because the library had just closed. Both my husband and I just received the text message below stating our samples weren’t processed because they weren’t received before 8pm, which is not true. Now we’re scrambling to find another testing option before seeing family members this weekend. Really frustrating.”

DC Health reports at 1:37pm:

DC Health is aware that some TestYourselfDC users have incorrectly received a message stating their sample was received after the 8pm cutoff time. Samples are still being processed as expected and we are working with our vendors to make adjustments.

“Dear PoPville,

Lol can’t believe I’m doing this but deciding to submit a missed connection because our dogs love each other – we both live in Navy Yard and have golden retrievers, his golden’s name is Sampson and every time our dogs see each other they must play… think you could help me find Sampson’s dad?

Have been too shy during all of our meetings!”

Ed. Note: If this is you, please email [email protected] so I can put you in touch with OP. PoPville is not affiliated with either party, please proceed with any potential connection at your own risk using caution as you would any online encounter. For those curious about past missed connections, many have been made and when possible I’ll try to update when/if more are made.

“Dear PoPville,

What are folks with a private garage/driveway doing for level 2 EV charging? We’re getting a Hybrid Pacifica and want to install a Level 2 charger. I know there are a bunch of posts on PoPville re street charging, but we have our own parking spot. Would love to hear from others on what brand of charger they use, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I have accepted a job in France next year and will need to start taking French classes ASAP. I would prefer to take them virtually at this moment and was looking for some recommendations of schools /tutors. I saw a few places in D.C. (French Academy, ICLS) but looking to see if anyone can recommend a school or had a good experience? Merci!”

“Dear PoPville,

I live in Navy Yard, and found an envelope in my mail from Veterans Affairs addressed to someone in Wisconsin (photo attached). I just dropped it back in the outgoing mail slot (it was prepaid postage), but I’m wondering if anyone else has experienced such egregiously misdelivered mail?”

“Dear PoPville,

I’m a professional baker and I recently started a small neighborhood bakery in Petworth specializing in breads and Ashkenazi Jewish treats. Since we’re heading into the cold winter months, I thought your readers might be interested in stocking up some carbs. Plus, it’s an unconventional business model.

The business is called Velvel Breads and it functions like a CSA — customers buy a month of bread upfront, then get to pick up a loaf each week. Currently, I offer sourdough loaves on Wednesdays and challah loaves on Fridays, with the option for customers to add on different treats each week (more…)
