“Dear PoPville,

I was just diagnosed with COVID-19 and therefore won’t be able to travel to see my family for the week as I had planned. I will most likely be FaceTiming in for Christmas Eve dinner and/or Christmas Day lunch. I live alone and would still like to enjoy the holiday with a nice meal. Does anyone know of any restaurants still accepting Christmas Eve / Christmas Day orders and deliveries? Especially for just one person or in smaller quantities? Thank you!!!”

and another reader asked last night: “just cancelled my holiday travel plans so looks like I will be dining solo in DC. Know of any restaurants doing to-go meals for 1 (pick up 12/24)?? I’ve only been able to find options for 2+ people. Thanks!”

“Dear PoPville,

Even as the cloud of covid descends upon us again I cannot handle the idea of letting January 6th pass us by without a solemn recognition of the continuing threats to democracy in America. Are there any dc groups organizing events? I’d love to support them with my time/$$$ and presence. Clearly something outdoors and masked is prudent. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’m on the hunt for the best streets/neighborhoods to walk around and enjoy the Christmas lights. I’d love to know if people have any suggestions based on what they’ve seen so far this year.”

“Dear PoPville,

I live in an Hoa community and own my condo, the place has been neglected by just about every management who took over, we are paying for projects after projects that have been approved but they are not doing it. What can be done about this problem which costs a lot of money is somewhere low-cost help?”

Is something the Office of the Tenant Advocate can help with or do they only do rentals?

“Dear PoPville,

245pm Friday.

While Amazon was delivering packages on the 1000 block of Quebec Place NW, a police officer pulled up behind him.

The officer told the Amazon driver that he was responding to a call from a resident on the block who reported that thieves dumped an Amazon “tote” delivery cart full of packages behind their house.

The officer pulled out the huge Tote delivery cart to give to the driver.

The driver called his Amazon manager. The Amazon Manager said they cannot take the packages back, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I am writing hoping that someone can recommend a good, reliable nail salon. I have been in DC for about 2.5 years but I have yet to find a place I am consistently happy with.

I don’t need anything crazy- I get gel polish every 3-4 weeks on my natural nails and the occasional pedicure. I’d ideally spend $30-$40 on the gel mani. I live in Chevy Chase DC but am willing to drive up to 20ish minutes for a good spot!

Please recommend nail salons and/or specific nail tech please!!”
