While I was waiting at the Senate subway on Thursday, this guy approached me and asked what I thought about something that we both witnessed a few minutes prior at the Capitol testing site. I had an *interesting* interaction last night and I wondered what others thought/would do in that situation. My partner and I were sitting at a bar that was fairly empty when we got there but became more crowded as we were going to leave. “Dear PoPville,
I recently used to the DC DMV self-service inspection kiosk at 300 Van Buren St NW to test my car. There was no line at 11am on a weekday and it took less than 5 minutes to pass. I received my new sticker the following week. The process was amazingly easy. The process of removing my old sticker — which on my last inspection 3 years had been affixed by DMV inspection person — was impossible to scrape off and had been stuck so far down the window well that my scraper could not access the lower half of the sticker. During my struggle, my new sticker, the back of which had not even been peeled off, fell down a crack on my dashboard and I’ve spent weeks trying unsuccessfully to fish it out, confound it. (more…)

On December 22nd, we were standing next to each other in a very long line to get take home rapid covid tests at the Woodbridge Library. I arrived 1.5 hours early (by accident), and you and your Irish Wolfhound (Huey) walked up behind me soon after. We chatted off and on for the duration of our wait. (more…)

I thought scooters were supposed to be tethered per the new law. Is there any way to report untethered scooters? This is the third time I’ve seen neatly grouped scooters, untethered on my corner. It seems like either a group of individuals or more likely lyft is dropping them on my corner without tethering them to sign posts etc. Ultimately what happens is somebody inevitably pushes one or all of them into the street or the sidewalk… does Lyft just not care because they know they can get away with it? Does the city also just not care?”

Our row house porch roof is in need of repair, probably full rebuild. Is there a code that says we can’t add a skylight to the porch roof?
I don’t recall our zone, but I’m pretty sure it’s residential only. We live on the east side of the 5100 block of New Hampshire Ave. NW in Ward 4.”

My husband and I had a Covid exposure over the weekend. We picked up a PCR test at the West End library on Tuesday and submitted the sample in the outside collection bin at 6:02pm on Tuesday. I know this because the library had just closed. Both my husband and I just received the text message below stating our samples weren’t processed because they weren’t received before 8pm, which is not true. Now we’re scrambling to find another testing option before seeing family members this weekend. Really frustrating.”
DC Health reports at 1:37pm:
“DC Health is aware that some TestYourselfDC users have incorrectly received a message stating their sample was received after the 8pm cutoff time. Samples are still being processed as expected and we are working with our vendors to make adjustments.“
