“Dear PoPville,

My mom (62) is looking to rent an apartment in the DMV for $1,000 a month in a safe neighborhood. Studio or one bedroom, preferably within 30 min drive to Brookland, does not require a certain income. Which areas do you think she should look? Any recommendations on specific apartment complexes?”

“Dear PoPville,

Was wondering if there were any recommendations for good optometrists in DC? More specifically NW DC. Would love to support somewhere local rather than big chains like LensCrafters. Also want to make sure they do quality exams – I have had issues with getting the incorrect prescription before.”

“Dear PoPville,

I was at the bar at Rappahannock at The Wharf on Monday, June 6 trying to enjoy the beautiful weather, my new library book, and some oysters when a drunken guest wouldn’t leave me alone. After about 10 minutes of pestering questions, another patron- who I later learned was named Morgan- stepped up and told the man off, telling him I just wanted to read my book (so true, thank you Morgan)! “Dear PoPville,

Do any other readers know of a place to drop off compost mid week? I usually go on Sundays to DuPont farmers market but it’s hard in the summer months with all the out of town weekends.”

“Dear PoPville,

I live in an 1890s row house and received notice of a massive mixed-use development coming to the block a few doors down from my home. As part of the project, several existing buildings will be razed, and they’re attached to my and my neighbors’ homes. Needless to say, we’re concerned about how the construction will impact our homes and the immediate vicinity. We don’t want to end up with blocked steets/alleys, increased traffic, cracked foundations or something worse! We plan to attend an upcoming zoning meeting to share our concerns, and I’m wondering if anyone in the community has lived through this experience, and what, if anything, can be done to protect our interests in advance.”

“Dear PoPville,

I’m writing to share that I changed my DC address and voter registration (I have my paper voter card) in January, yet my absentee ballot was sent to my previous address. I’ll now be voting in person, and I imagine there could be folks waiting for a ballot who should know they may need to do the same or should contact DCBOE to find out what their options are.”
