I’ve recently started commuting downtown by bike, and I wanted to get advice from others on the safest route. I live right off of 14th Street, so the most direct route is for me to go along 14th until I can cut over to the protected bike lanes on 15th Street. But biking through the section around DC USA is so insanely dangerous, especially northbound where cars and delivery trucks are constantly blocking the bike lane (and even the main travel lane). I live in Dupont off 17th street and for WEEKS there has been an unidentifiable loud squeaking noise [video/sound of noise after jump] (like a metal fan in need of wd-40 or a squeaky wheel on a shopping cart) somehow nothing has been done about it and I am unable to discern what direction it is coming from so I’m unable to find whoever or whatever is responsible. A female friend and I were walking home along D St NE at around 9:30PM (Tuesday) and started to be followed by a tall man dressed in all black. He tailed us for a few blocks and was stomping loudly to let us know he was behind us. As we turned onto 9th ST NE he started to get closer and make loud grunting noises while stomping. (more…)

Something strange happened in glover park over the weekend – animal sacrifice? It’s head is in the creek adjacent to the glover park entrance off Edmunds and some of its organs are in the park. I can’t imagine an animal beheaded a deer and threw it in the creek so….”

John McCormack Rd. NE, near Catholic University, has been changed from 2 ways to 1 way without proper signage and no notice that I am aware of. The avenue has become a one-way towards Michigan Ave. NE. There is no signage until the merge, which has caused drivers to run over the white street markers in order to enter Michigan Ave.NE; (more…)
