“Dear PoPville,

There is a sign in my neighborhood on G and 4th NW of “Rehoming Puppies” “Poodles, Yorkies & More”. DC has a huge dog stealing problem and as a dog owner, I want to flag this sign as myself and the other dog owners in the area are a little weary of it and I want to remind other pet owners to continue to be aware of their surroundings while walking their dog and being extra cautious.”

From the Humane Rescue Alliance:

“Last night, we reunited a FIFTH puppy in Godiva’s litter, named Oli, with his mom and siblings. We’ll work with the family who brought Oli in to return him to them once he’s older and strong enough to be separated from Godiva.

Each reunion brings happy tears to our eyes and gives us renewed hope that the remaining puppies will be reunited with Godiva and their brothers and sister.

Last month we found sweet Godiva tied to a pole – abandoned and alone. Her seven 3 ½-week-old puppies had been kidnapped, ripped away from her, and denied their right to grow up with and learn from their mother and siblings during their critical developmental period. It shattered our hearts, and we vowed to do everything we could to reunite the entire family. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’d love to know if any readers have a sense of what’s up with the school and its fire alarms at 10th and V NW? It seems like they’re extremely sensitive or something, but basically, for the last month, every few days or so (or at one point, consecutive days), the very loud fire alarms just go off for seemingly no reason. “Dear PoPville,

My condo association is looking for a company that can help with maintenance of the front yard of our small 4-unit building in DC, including mowing the grass, leaf pick-up, and salt/shoveling snow. If anyone has recommendations for a reliable and reasonably priced company, please let us know!”

“Dear PoPville,

I’m looking for OBGYN recommendations (thinking about starting a family and currently see someone but would like to switch to someone I like more before embarking on getting pregnant). It looks like your last post with this question was over a year ago, and I know a lot has changed (e.g. GW not accepting any new patients right now), so I was wondering if the community could share some OBGYN recommendations?”

“Dear PoPville,

To whoever returned my phone to the Zoo lost and found Sunday September 18th. If you can prove it was you, I would love to buy you a drink! Thank you so much for your kindness! You received a round of applause from our large group celebrating my MIL’s birthday. You definitely saved me hours of work getting my stuff together.”

If this was you please email me at [email protected] and I’ll put you in touch with OP for your drink!

“Dear PoPville,

Scooters are taking up all the bike rack space right in front of a Oyster Adams DC Public School? This is getting worse week by week and we aren’t sure who to report this to. Thanks!!”

“Dear PoPville,

We have a young kid in daycare and no family in town, so when he gets sick or daycare is closed, it’s a challenge to provide him good care and balance our full time jobs. I know we’re not the only ones in this situation in DC. Does anyone have experience using any of the emergency nanny or childcare companies in DC, or other recommendations for how to fill this gap without totally abandoning all job responsibilities?”

“Dear PoPville,

So today (Sunday) I was at the Cracked Eggery with my two grandchildren. After I ordered lunch for them, I checked my purse, my pockets, started ransacking my bag, but could not find my credit card. And they would not take cash. I went through my stuff probably three times, when one of the staff said someone had paid for us. He pointed to the woman, who was incredibly lovely, (more…)
