“Dear PoPville,
I wanted to give a heads-up to folks in the neighborhood. My girlfriend was on a jog this morning around 11:45 and was followed by a car (late model black sedan) as she ran up 16th street between Crittenden and Military. He would park at every intersection and wait for her to cross and he would drive by her and then go up a few blocks, turn right, then come to park and wait for her at the next intersection. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Sending this in for awareness but also to see if anyone else is in the same boat– the jewelry store “Gold USA Jewelers” at 3109 14th St NW is suddenly closed for remodeling with no re-open date or way to contact them for info. The doors are locked, store windows are covered in paper and they have a sign up saying “by appointment only” but there does not appear to be anywhere to make one–their phone number has been disconnected (you get an error message if you call) and there is no website/social media/online presence for their business. “Dear PoPville,

Tried to locate customer service – couldn’t. I don’t need the $7 travel stipend, and wasn’t going to authorize anyway, but… (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
There have been 3 occasions now where myself, my partner, and friend have had instances along 11th ST NW between Florida and Fairmont, where muggings have been happening.
My partner had an instance where a black car with tinted windows slowly pulled up, two individuals in the front, two in the back (who came out), assaulted and robbed him and two others.
A week later on the same stretch, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
I’m ready to donate my pandemic purchased high end rowing machine. I’m a member of two gyms, and at this point it feels like clutter in my limited amount of space at home. I wonder if readers could share what their experiences have been, if any, in making such donations to local charities ( treadmill, peloton, rowers, elliptical) or even selling.”

“Dear PoPville,
Wanted to let you know that Johnny’s All American on 11th Street is open. Along with Buddy’s, Johnny’s is another great addition to a great block. Of course we miss Bad Saint, but as with Room 11 / Buddy’s, if something great had to go, at least something great backfilled it. They expanded into the former Willow (etc.) space, (more…)
