“Dear PoPville,
I’ve been stymied as I try to figure out what this is – a very carefully-constructed big window display for the “Green Paint Shop” close to City Lights, around 1735 Connecticut. Internet searches turn up nothing, except for one Reddit conversation saying it had been covered in PoPville. Somebody clearly put a lot of work into this, and all I know for sure is that it’s not a paint shop. The display includes MANY cans, each with a different label. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
On Thursday, February 23rd at 5:59-6:00pm (It was the unusually warm 80 degree February day) I was biking north on 14th St NW in the bike lane between S and T streets NW (right in front of Gypsy Kitchen) when I approached a rideshare driver who was idling illegally in the bike lane, blocking it entirely and forcing me over between the bike lane and parked vehicles. A passenger of that ride share then ‘doored’ me (flung his door open without looking and hit me) as I was going by. (more…)

Thanks to Madeleine for sharing this sad PSA:
“I wanted to share a very sad hawks around town sighting– two days ago we found our beautiful Eckington neighborhood hawk deceased in our front yard. I believe it was a victim of poisoning via a rat snack, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
I wanted to give a heads-up to folks in the neighborhood. My girlfriend was on a jog this morning around 11:45 and was followed by a car (late model black sedan) as she ran up 16th street between Crittenden and Military. He would park at every intersection and wait for her to cross and he would drive by her and then go up a few blocks, turn right, then come to park and wait for her at the next intersection. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Sending this in for awareness but also to see if anyone else is in the same boat– the jewelry store “Gold USA Jewelers” at 3109 14th St NW is suddenly closed for remodeling with no re-open date or way to contact them for info. The doors are locked, store windows are covered in paper and they have a sign up saying “by appointment only” but there does not appear to be anywhere to make one–their phone number has been disconnected (you get an error message if you call) and there is no website/social media/online presence for their business. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Anyone have this happen? When I called to get the debit card authorized, the recorded voice tells me the account doesn’t exist (after following the “Please input the number on the card” instruction). Tried to locate customer service – couldn’t. I don’t need the $7 travel stipend, and wasn’t going to authorize anyway, but… (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Thank you to the five or so bystanders on Saturday afternoon outside of Union Market by the picnic tables for springing into action after the wind picked up a sun umbrella that crashed into my leg. (more…)
