“Am wondering if folks have had other weird experiences?”

3307 14th Street, NW

“Dear PoPville,

I walked by the newly opened the Joint Chiropractor in Columbia Heights. They were giving away “free adjustments” which sounded great! I signed up the next day, which was last Friday. I didn’t have to work so I figured I would stroll in and receive a free adjustment (they heavily advertise walk-ins). As soon as I signed up–

I got a call from what clearly sounded like a call center. The woman said “when do you want to come in” and I said, I was thinking of coming over there sometime this morning. She said ok 10:30 or 11:30– I said 10:30 is in 2 minutes, I Don’t think I can make it how about 1045? She said no 10:30-11;30— immediately the vibe got weird and I said– let me call you back to find a better time.

Every day since then they have called me, clearly from call centers. Very pushy, very weird. I get businesses have to hustle for business, but it feels SO weird coming from a healthcare provider. Am wondering if folks have had other weird experiences? Have people actually gone and gotten an adjustment? The whole thing feels funny!”

Potomac Harmony is Back! Following a gap year of competing, then virtual rehearsals during the pandemic, followed by the well-earned retirement of our long-term director, a year of a director search, Potomac Harmony hit the regional contest stage in Concord, North Carolina in March for the first time since 2018! It was exhilarating, reaffirming, and rewarding!

The chorus hit all of its goals, the biggest of which was to have fun and sing our best on contest stage — we did both! Because we earned a score over 400 points, our new Director, Allison Lynskey, was awarded the Novice Director award, photo above. Additionally, one of our charter members, Jackie Bottash, was nominated for and honored with the Leadership Excellence award. It was a celebratory weekend!

What’s next? So much! We now look forward to upcoming performances, growing our membership, and expanding our musical product with new arrangements and an education component each week. It’s an exciting time to be part of this ever-growing ensemble!
