“Dear PoPville,

I’m a Foggy Bottom resident living at one of the condo buildings at 26th and K St. There’s a lovely free little library box in the park on 26th St that has amassed quite the collection recently. It’s not associated with the Little Free Library Network (I actually did look this up). Unfortunately, yesterday it got so many books that the bottom shelf collapsed. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I have had issues getting into contact with the DC Board of Nursing. I, as well as my college, have reached out to the general phone number and sent multiple emails with no communication from the department. Furthermore, I have reached out to the specific reviewer that they said is assigned to my case and I get automatically forwarded to a voicemail and, despite having left voicemails, receive no response and receive no response from them when directly emailing them. “Dear PoPville,

The other day I called 311 for a parking issue on private property. Within a few minutes of my call ending, the situation escalated to a vehicle collision and physical assault. When I tried calling 911, my phone would not allow the call, it would just close the phone app whenever I tried. I was not focusing well on my phone because the attacker was still there, but I saw a massage saying something like having just used an emergency number, i was not able to make this call. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I’m a resident in an apartment building that is right by Gonzaga’s parking lot, and on my walk home yesterday I heard what I came to find was a kidnapping in the parking lot around 4:30PM. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I just celebrated one year postpartum after having a rough delivery and preemie in the NICU, and I’d like to commemorate this with some (real) self-care. I’d love to do something restorative like a weekend in Yogaville [Ed. Note: No relation to PoPville] but that’s less than a 2 hour drive from DC. I’m looking for a place/experience that is in nature, offers yoga, meditation, maybe some art therapy? Help a mama out!”

“Dear PoPville,

I’ve tried Googling for this in the DC area but have come up empty, so I thought maybe throwing it out to the PoPville community might yield something. I’m an adult interested in possibly taking cello lessons, but I have no prior experience with the instrument and do not have a cello. I am looking for an opportunity to take a 1-3 hour tutorial where I can try out the instrument, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I always thought that DC merely threw away its recyclables, but it was done behind the scenes. Today, the secret is out. Both green and blue bins dumped in same compactor. According to our maintenance man, it’s the second week in a row DC sanitation has done this. The excuse? “Not enough manpower, not enough trucks.” This was the answer provided by DC Sanitation worker.”

“here’s the old sign and the new sign, not more than five or six car lengths apart”

“Dear PoPville,

So a DDOT truck drove up in front of my house today and put up some new parking signs in spots that I guess have been in need of them. Great! Hooray for infrastructure!

Except when they left, I noticed that the signs read “2 hour parking—Zone 4A permit holders excepted.”

Which is interesting, because I and my neighbors all have “zone 4” parking stickers…and the EXISTING signs at the end of my block say “Zone 4,” NOT “Zone 4A.” (more…)
