“The National Weather Service has extended the High Wind Warning from Friday, 3/2/2018 12:00 AM to Saturday, 3/3/2018 6:00 AM EST for the District of Columbia and the surrounding area.
Winds will be from the NW 25 to 40 mph with gusts around 60 to 70 mph. The strongest winds will be Friday morning through Friday evening.
Downed trees, power lines, and widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.” (more…)

“The National Weather Service is forecasting a wintry mix of snow, sleet and rain beginning overnight and continuing through Wednesday’s morning commute. The DC Snow Team will be called in at midnight to closely monitor temperatures and precipitation, with 150 heavy and light plow trucks ready to treat District roads as necessary. Residents and motorists can register to receive important weather alerts from the District on their devices by signing up for AlertDC at alertdc.dc.gov.
“The DC Snow Team will be monitoring road conditions throughout the early morning hours to determine whether further action is needed,” said DPW Director Chris Shorter. “Our first priority is the safety of motorists on District roads, which we balance with the environmental concerns of over-salting roads when unnecessary.”

The DC Snow Team will be called in at midnight to closely monitor temperatures and precipitation, and treat District roads as necessary. “The DC Snow Team will be on standby overnight, prepared to treat all District routes ahead of the Tuesday morning commute if needed,” said DPW Director Chris Shorter. “Throughout the evening and early morning hours we will be keeping a close eye on the type of precipitation that falls and road temperatures. If temperatures drop and heavy snow begins to fall, we will be ready.”
