“The National Weather Service is forecasting a wintry mix of snow, sleet and rain beginning overnight and continuing through Wednesday’s morning commute. The DC Snow Team will be called in at midnight to closely monitor temperatures and precipitation, with 150 heavy and light plow trucks ready to treat District roads as necessary. Residents and motorists can register to receive important weather alerts from the District on their devices by signing up for AlertDC at alertdc.dc.gov.

“The DC Snow Team will be monitoring road conditions throughout the early morning hours to determine whether further action is needed,” said DPW Director Chris Shorter. “Our first priority is the safety of motorists on District roads, which we balance with the environmental concerns of over-salting roads when unnecessary.”

The DC Snow Team will be called in at midnight to closely monitor temperatures and precipitation, and treat District roads as necessary. Residents and motorists can register to receive important weather alerts from the District on their devices by signing up for AlertDC at alertdc.dc.gov.

“The DC Snow Team will be on standby overnight, prepared to treat all District routes ahead of the Tuesday morning commute if needed,” said DPW Director Chris Shorter. “Throughout the evening and early morning hours we will be keeping a close eye on the type of precipitation that falls and road temperatures. If temperatures drop and heavy snow begins to fall, we will be ready.”

You have been warned!!

“The National Weather Service is forecasting up to two inches of snow beginning around 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday, January 17. To prepare, the DC Snow Team will deploy more than 200 trucks at 7:00 pm this evening to treat all National Highway System, primary, secondary and residential routes within the District ahead of the morning commute. The DC Snow Team will also have trucks on standby throughout Wednesday morning to monitor and treat roads as necessary. In preparation for this evening’s anticipated precipitation, major roads in the District were pretreated with liquid brine over the holiday weekend. Residents and motorists can register to receive important weather alerts from the District on their devices by signing up for AlertDC at alertdc.dc.gov.

“Due to the inclement weather forecast, all afterschool programs, athletic events, and evening meetings are cancelled today, January 8, 2018. All students will be dismissed at their school’s regular dismissal time. Staff will remain at schools until all students have been dismissed.”

“The National Weather Service is forecasting a wintry mix of rain, sleet, and freezing rain beginning Monday afternoon around noon and lasting into the later evening hours. To prepare, the DC Snow Team will deploy more than 200 trucks to salt District roads on Monday, January 8 starting at 9:00 a.m.”
