From a press release:

“Politics and Prose (P&P) is pleased to announce the opening of a new bookstore this October at The Wharf, the $2.5 billion, mile-long waterfront neighborhood being built by Hoffman-Madison Waterfront (HMW) in Southwest DC. The move represents a stronger-than-ever commitment by Washington’s leading independent bookstore to serve additional city neighborhoods and bring more books and more literary and cultural events to the District. Hello architectural plans!! And allow me to once again thank the Gods for such zoom technology on a $200 camera. Last month we broke the news that UNIQLO was hiring for a Union Station location. However, we had been burned in the past with similar job listing so reservations remained. Not anymore. This was at the end of a 15.1 mile walkabout so I thought maybe I was hallucinating – but no – that logo is too distinct even upside down:

So rejoice fellow UNIQLO fans – rejoice for real!! Still a ways to go of course:

But it is indeed the spot I figured last month, the old swatch store all the way back to the former cd store on the main floor. STAY TUNED.

Thanks to Nicole for sending word about Grass & Co last week: “next to Metro Wine on Columbia Rd!” sorry I blanked on posting but better late than never!

“The Adams Morgan community has shown us a lot of love and we’re hoping to extend that love to the rest of DC. Stop by and say hello!”

So I guess it’s time we started talking grass for those who like grass. What’s your favorite kind? (kind, get it? God I’m gonna embarrass my daughters when they’re older.) But seriously, what’s the good stuff these days? My college self remembers Northern Lights but not much else. Hey wait a minute…

Jesus Christ, I think they are judging me. In their underwear! It’s not even particularly nice underwear, thank you very much.  My underwear has whales on it.  That’s cool underwear.  But damn that look of disdain stings a bit.

600 block of H Street, NE via Solid State Books

Solid State Books is now spreading the good news on twitter:

“Coming soon to @TheApolloDC!”

The Apollo is also home to, of course, Whole Foods and The Wydown Coffee Bar.

Solid State’s website says:

“Solid State Books will operate as a full-service general interest bookstore with a deep and diverse selection of fiction and non-fiction titles curated to appeal to neighborhood residents of all ages as well as to the many visitors from other parts of DC, Virginia, Maryland, and beyond. Solid State Books will have extensive children’s book and young adult sections to fully serve our smallest readers. Our deep slate of programming will include author readings and signings, children’s story hours, book groups, local interest panels, political conversations and more! To better meet the needs of our clientele, we will also have a coffee bar with a delicious selection of snacks, beer, and wine. We can’t wait to see you in the store!”

Will be interesting to see if that will be some coffee saturation or not?
