12th and U St, NW

The following was written by PoPville contributor David McAuley, founder of Short Articles about Long Meetings.

A committee of Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC) 1B/U Street heard and unanimously approved a plan to add a second story to Dukem Ethiopian Restaurant (1114-1118 U Street NW) last night (November 20). ANC1B’s Zoning, Preservation and Development Committee had a surprisingly quiet presentation and debate.

“I am shocked that there is no one here from the community,” said committee chair Patrick Nelson.

Dukem Ethiopian Restaurant, like many DC restaurants, has a settlement agreement with the ANC and perhaps other parties. These settlement agreements can cover a wide variety of topics, but often they deal with matters like hours of operation and trash disposal. (more…)

Well this is insane – Wiseguy Pizza posted yesterday:

“This is unbelievable. This pizza shop (Pizzolis Pizzeria) imposing and scamming customers to be Wiseguy Pizza. I just got an another complaint that we screwed them. In fact it was not Wiseguy Pizza.

This happened several months ago and we didn’t take it seriously because we thought it was a one time thing but now this is too much.
Please note that we don’t do traditional delivery. We do $100 minimum with 24 hours notice.
They are targeting mostly hotel guests with google adds like this for delivery.

We will be going after them. What do you think?”

4th and H Street, NW

Union Market, Adams Morgan, Cleveland Park and now Downtown too! The pizzeria is coming to the briefly open Black Iron space around 13th and E St, NW around the corner from the Warner Theatre. Side note: Can anyone explain why this building has a Pennsylvania Ave address when it is located on E Street?

City Paper reports:

“Cucina Al Volo Pizzeria will serve Roman-style “al taglio” pizza. It’s sold in Italy in giant squares by the pound and is most similar to thick, Sicilian-style pie.”

Standby for opening dates for here and Cleveland Park.

Technically 1299 Pennsylvania Ave, NW but entrance actually on E Street
