Making food is how we show our love, and we’ve fought this pandemic the best way we know how to–by helping to feed the people on the front lines. We were able to donate 101 18” pizzas (feeding 400+ people), 800 masks, and 7400 gloves in a single day to 6 area hospitals as well as other essential workers and those in need.
Then the calls started to roll into our store from people who wanted to help do the same. So we’re making a formal ask for you to contribute to helping us keep area healthcare workers fed and provided with a much-needed bit of cheer.

I stopped into Purple Patch in Mount Pleasant (3155 Mt Pleasant St, NW) this morning to pick up some carryout and was pleasantly surprised to find they’ve turned the restaurant into a makeshift market with spirits, wine, beer, coffee to go, their restaurant shrub, and little packages of desserts, appetizers, etc. (more…)

I know there were reports last month about them possibly closing, but we just ordered maybe 2 weeks ago without a problem. Have you heard anything about whether or not they’re still open?”

In an attempt to not be totally doom and gloom – I’ll assume this is still happening although, I guess we should take all ‘coming soon’ posts with a grain of salt, no pun intended. Thanks to a reader for sending word that Brine is coming to the former Outsider space which closed in October 2019. Previously this space was home to H Street Coffee and SOVA before them. I’m assuming Brine will be some sorta seafood restaurant. Stay tuned and fingers crossed.
