Sabores was located at 3435B Connecticut Ave. NW. Thanks to a reader for sending word last week after seeing that all the furniture had been removed. While they normally close for the summer – this one seems permanent as their phone had been disconnected and this is what a peek inside looks like:

In other eviction news – the Post reported last week:

“The Reserve was evicted from its building at 1426 L St. NW.”

The Reserve was located next to Post Pub

Anna Maria’s has been closed since since June 2009 in Dupont Circle at 1737 Connecticut Ave NW. In what I’ll have to file in the good news/bad news category it appears that work has started in earnest (the permit says proposed use is restaurant) but one DC’s greatest city signs is no more. A bitter sweet moment for sure.

Thai X-ing is located at 515 Florida Avenue, NW. How do you think the paint job turned out – thumbs up or down?

You can sorta see what the color was here:

For those not familiar with Thai X-ing you can see their menu below:

Info on making reservations here.

There were some doubters back in early May…

“Dear PoP,

Italiano cafe at 12th & V is open- pretty standard menu of pizza, pasta, panini etc. Open until 12 weekdays and 2am weekends – hope they make it in this off the beaten path location, and that their customers are considerate of the neighbors! I got a small pizza, it was pretty good…”

Also they deliver to a 2 mile radius (202-986-4646). You can see their menu here.

The old Pesto (and Mrs Simpsons) space at 2915 Connecticut Ave, NW has been replaced with the newly opened Lillies. Back in early May it appeared that some sorta coffee house serving Seattle’s Best coffee would be moving into the space (they’ll still offer Seattle’s Best but they are also fine tuning a proper espresso machine). Turns out to be much more extensive. I stopped in to the newly opened spot yesterday to grab some photos. The space is very casual/comfortable inside and as some reader have noted to me in emails – the outdoor patio is fantastic. They are still working on their web site so I’ll post some photos of the menu after the jump. In the next 3-4 weeks they will also offer beer and wine.

Photos of the inside and the menu after the jump. (more…)

Back in June ’10 we heard that Tackle Box would be opening up a 2nd location in Cleveland Park (other location is in Georgetown.) Tackle Box will be coming to the long vacant McDonald’s space at 3407 Connecticut Ave, NW. I had a chance to get a sneak peek of the space and the menu on Monday. If all goes well the space should be open by the end of this week. When the final permits are received I’ll update with an exact opening date. Below you can find the revamped menu:

The revamped menu will first be released in Cleveland Park and a couple of weeks later will be released in the Georgetown location. As for the Cleveland Park space itself – it is huge. It consists of two levels and has a similar feel to the Georgetown locale. For those who last remember the McDonald’s in this space – it will sorta blow your mind.

More photos after the jump. (more…)
