From DCPS:

“Throughout the pandemic, DC Public Schools has implemented a layered approach to limiting the spread of COVID-19 in our schools, anchored in the guidance provided by DC Health and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).

Earlier this week, DC Health released updated guidance for educational facilities. Under the new guidance, masks are no longer required indoors or outdoors at schools when COVID-19 community levels are low based on CDC metrics.

Consistent with this guidance and the current low levels in the District, starting Wednesday, March 16, masks will be optional for students, staff, and visitors in DC Public Schools, DCPS offices, and on OSSE-DOT transportation. This policy will apply to all school-related activities. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

As an FYI, I’ve been repeatedly contacting DC Water and DOEEE about what the timeline for lead replacement of the main (and private) water lines are like in DC.

I’ve been contacted by contractors asking us to pay them >$15K to replace our private lead lines that come up to the house from the street. From HSEMA:

“The District of Columbia and its public safety agencies are aware of and prepared for potential demonstrations that may begin to disrupt travel on roadways in and around the National Capital Region as early as tomorrow and through the weekend. As a result, vehicle traffic may be affected, and businesses and other organizations could experience delays in incoming and outgoing deliveries as well as employee access during this time. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I still haven’t gotten my tax return back from DC last year. I filed on time (well with the extensions everyone was given anyway) and everytime I check the DC tax website status it says processing. I’m curious if anyone else is still missing their return from last year or has any tips on how to get this resolved?”

“Dear PoPville,

Air BnB Hosts might be receiving alerts from Air BnB to make sure to have a short term rental license by April 10th.

A month in, we have learned some things. Specifically a D-30 form that my guess is some other hosts are going to run into a problem with.

You can’t apply for a Short Term Rental License without a Certificate of Clean Hands. (more…)
