From the office of the DC Attorney General:

“Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today filed a lawsuit against StubHub, Inc. (StubHub), an online ticket exchange and resale platform, to put an end to StubHub’s deceptive and unfair practice of hiding mandatory fees from consumers until the end of a lengthy purchase process, and then failing to provide clear and accurate information about the purpose of those fees or how the fees are calculated. These deceptive and unfair practices interfere with consumers’ ability to compare prices and to otherwise make informed decisions about their ticket purchases, in violation of the District’s consumer protection laws. “Dear PoPville,

The DC Office of Planning is undertaking a public life study in Columbia Heights and Mount Pleasant. From the office of CM Charles Allen:

“The DC Council’s Committee on Transportation and the Environment, chaired by Councilmember Charles Allen (Ward 6), unanimously advanced out of committee Councilmember Allen’s legislation that sets a goal to grow the availability of charging infrastructure for electric vehicles (EVs), which are expected to continue to increase exponentially.

According to the federal Joint Office of Energy and Transportation, the District of Columbia currently has roughly 1,141 EV ports, or only 346 station locations, with just an additional four ports planned as of this release. Much of this existing EV charging infrastructure is largely limited to Downtown. (more…)

From the Office of the DC Attorney General:

“Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb introduced the Secure Apartments For Everyone (SAFE) Regulation Amendment Act to improve safety and reduce incidents of crime at District apartment complexes. Each apartment building has unique characteristics and challenges, and the SAFE Act sets forth a series of interventions that allow District tenants, owners, and government agencies to work together to identify building-specific problems and implement solutions that will make communities safer in the short and long term. From the office of Councilmember Brianne K. Nadeau:

Councilmember Brianne K. Nadeau, Ward 1, issued the following statement following the Zoning Commission’s approval of the Office of Planning’s proposed upzoning of District-owned property at 1617 U Street and 1620 V Street (MPD 3rd District headquarters and FEMS Engine 9).

This decision creates the opportunity for hundreds of new units of housing and affordable housing in an area that desperately needs both, as well as new open space (the new zone, MU-10, has a requirement for 8% of any future development to be an open public plaza).

I look forward to collaborating with the Office of Planning, neighbors, and local institutions to create a new community landmark we can all be proud of, one that will add density to the site, contribute to the shortage of affordable housing in this part of Ward 1 and provide new public amenities to help restore the vibrancy of this end of the U Street Corridor.

From Council Member Frumin’s office:

“I share residents’ frustration that the Wilson Aquatic Center has still not reopened. My team and I have been in frequent contact with DGS and DPR leadership to press for transparency and to get the pool open and operating reliably as soon as possible.

While the extensive work to replace the HVAC system and other necessary facility maintenance is complete, a leak was discovered when the pool was being refilled. DGS has assured me that repairs are underway and proceeding as quickly as possible. Here is the statement the department released earlier today: (more…)
