Just curious: mine had one pass and is still looking pretty rough (it’s a bus route too.)

Has your alley been plowed? I’ve seen some plowed but also that many that have not.

I suppose garbage collection will push another day, or maybe just skip this week?

How are your sidewalks looking?

From the Office of DC Council Chairman Phil Mendelson:

“DC Council Chairman Phil Mendelson had the following statement on the recommendation of the Ad Hoc Committee that Trayon White be expelled:

“Let’s cut through the legal jargon. Trayon White is accused of taking bribes,” Mendelson said. “The prosecutors have established probable cause, our own independent investigation found substantial evidence that he took bribes, and public servants are prohibited from taking bribes. From the Office of the DC Attorney General:

“Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced that the makers of Zyn nicotine pouches will pay $1.2 million to resolve allegations that the company facilitated the sale of tens of thousands of flavored products in DC in violation of the District’s 2022 ban on flavored tobacco and nicotine products. After the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) opened an investigation, Swedish Match North America LLC (SMNA), a subsidiary of Phillip Morris International, quickly halted nationwide sales of its products from its website, shop.zyn.com. Now, as part of the settlement agreement with OAG, SMNA will also be required to monitor its distributors and take affirmative steps to ensure they comply with the District’s ban on flavored tobacco products. “Dear PoPville,

We hope you can call attention to the increasingly compromised infrastructure at Marie Reed Aquatics Center in Adams Morgan where the showers have been barely functional since the spring of this year. Currently there are only four functioning showers of 11: two each in the women’s and men’s changing rooms (of five in each). The shower in the family / independent accessible shower is also not functioning properly (the water is not heated). In the women’s room two showers have hot water, one additional shower has running water but it is cold. Two others do not function at all- last winter one started running continuously, it could not be turned off, and instead of being fixed the water in it and the adjacent shower was turned off completely. In the men’s room, we understand that the water in two showers is functional and the hot water works and in three the water is not functional.

Of note, (more…)

“Dear PoPville:

My son attends Powell Elementary School on Upshur Street in Petworth. In the mornings before school, he and friends play pickup soccer at the Upshur Park soccer field across the street from Powell. Unfortunately, the large net meant to keep balls from going into Upshur Street has been shredded for ages – as a result, every morning I see kids retrieving balls from the middle of Upshur, a busy street with lots of morning commuters. I took the attached picture with the school bus and the ball in the middle of Upshur street one of the several times the ball went into the street THIS MORNING. [Wed.]

After many 311 requests, I reached out to our councilmember’s office and council staff helped us learn that the work order to fix this net was opened in May 2019. (more…)
