“Alert: Shooting Investigation at 1304 hours in the 1400 block of Newton Street NW. Lookout for 2022 Silver Honda SUV.”

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) and Armed Carjacking (Gun) offense that occurred on Monday, December 12, 2022, in the 1400 block of Newton Street, Northwest. 

At approximately 1:03 pm, the suspect approached the victim, who was seated in a vehicle, at the listed location. The suspect brandished a handgun and demanded the victim to exit the vehicle. The suspect then shot the victim and fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. (more…)

Update Arrest Made. “three people shot at the Benning Road Metro Station” around 9AM

Update from MPD:

“Metro Transit Police have arrested a suspect in the Thursday shooting at Benning Road station that injured three individuals. 

MTPD arrested the 16 year old male suspect in Northwest D.C. at approximately noon today. After an extensive investigation he is being charged with attempted second degree murder and carrying a pistol without a license. The suspect was wearing an ankle monitor at the time of his arrest. 

“Gun violence is tragic, infuriating, and unfortunately all too common in our society today. I commend MTPD for their quick work apprehending this suspect,” said Metro General Manager Randy Clarke. “Metro has an extensive network of surveillance cameras that allow us to quickly identify perpetrators of violence and bring them to justice, and MTPD has dramatically increased its presence on rail and bus in the past several months to keep customers safe.” 

There are no additional suspects in this case. The three victims are all expected to recover.” (more…)

“Fatal shooting on the Red Line platform at Metro Center shortly before 6:30 p.m.”

Megan wrote at 6:27pm: “I was on the red line train when it pulled into metro center. We heard shots fired and everyone on the train hit the ground and the train didn’t stop, went on through. Everyone on our car was ok. What happened??”

“MTPD responded to a fatal shooting on the Red Line platform at Metro Center shortly before 6:30 p.m. this evening.

One victim was pronounced at the scene. @DCPoliceDept is leading the investigation. #wmata”

From WMATA 7:29pm: “Red Line service back to single tracking due to police activity/customer fatality, but trains are bypassing the station. Use Gallery Place/Farragut North.”

From MPD: “MPD is assisting an outside law enforcement agency in reference to an officer involved shooting inside of the Metro Center Station.” (more…)
