“the folks that stole and crashed this vehicle assaulted a family in broad daylight in Bloomingdale before they crashed the car”, Incredibly upsetting report from the victim.

Thanks to all who messaged me about this dangerous driving post yesterday – the victim reached out and shares the incredibly upsetting story:

“These criminals attacked me and my family yesterday in Bloomingdale. They beat us up (while I was holding my 2 year old daughter). Busted my lip and choked me and punched my husband in the jaw. My other daughter was in the stroller unharmed. A neighbor heard us screaming and saved us! They went on to hold another woman at gunpoint shortly after, and then crashed the car.

He told me to get in the car and drop my child. He had is hand in his pants like he had a weapon. The police told us they then went on to attack another girl on 14th St and took her shoes? Seems they were targeting women. We *think* they wanted my jacket (i was wearing a Canada Goose) and they didn’t realize I was holding my child or with my husband and other child. I was walking a few feet behind them. At the end of them attacking us he told me to take off my jacket, but then took off.

It happened Sunday around 11am at 1st and W in Bloomingdale. Someone actually videoed it, but we’ve yet to see it. They said it was evidence. All of the people who live on the street came and helped once they heard us screaming. Gave us blankets, juice boxes for the kids. We are so thankful! We actually haven’t even heard from MPD since it happened, so I’m not sure if they were caught.

The detective came to our house afterward. He was getting a lot of calls about the same criminals attacking someone on 14th and V, and obviously later crashing the stolen car and fleeing the scene

I remember was noticing the white car was illegally parked because they cranked it as i was crossing the crosswalk (holding my daughter). I saw three people get out and come towards me and realized what was happening. The only guy I remember had a grey sweatsuit, a hoodie, and his hands in his pants as if he had a weapon. I ran towards my husband and other daughter and kind of screamed and he turned around and one punched him in the head and he fell to the ground. I don’t remember how I ended up on the ground I just remember them punching me in the face and kicking me telling me to let go of my child. They ripped her jacket off and ripped her dress, but the only thing I cared about was protecting her head. They were dragging me down the sidewalk by my infinity scarf and eventually that came off. One of them then started choking me on the sidewalk, and that’s when our angel neighbor came out and spooked them off. My daughter in the stroller wasn’t touched!

We are truly OK and very blessed bc it could’ve ended much differently. Still took the kids to see Santa as if nothing happened. As long as they’re ok, we are ok.”
