Update from MPD:
“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fourth District are searching for the suspects involved in a fatal shooting during an armed robbery of a business.
On Wednesday, March 27, 2024, at approximately 2:57 p.m., the two suspects brandished handguns and entered a business in the 5100 block of Georgia Avenue, Northwest. The suspects demanded property and money. The victims’ complied. During the robbery, one of the suspects fired a shot striking one of the victims. The suspects took the property and money then fled the scene. The shooting victim was transported to a local hospital for treatment and later died.
The decedent has been identified as 41-year-old Philip Prendergast, of Silver Spring, MD.

It sucks to live in a society where O feel compelled to suggest a post on this, but since I figure it’s better to be prepared than end up sorry — can a reader recommend a local class that teaches ‘tween and teenaged kids about, eg, best practices & “street smarts” for personal safety (in public, in interactions with known adults and also unfamiliar kids) and some practical self-defense practices? “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District is asking for the community’s assistance to find a French Bulldog that went missing after the vehicle he was inside was stolen in Northwest.
On Sunday, March 24, 2024, at 3:01 a.m., the victim parked their car in the 1900 block of 14th Street, Northwest. When the victim returned, they discovered their vehicle had been taken. The victim’s 4-year-old French Bulldog named Recardito was inside the vehicle. (more…)
