A reader reports (and others also inquire on twitter) around 12:30am:
“Word is a fight broke out in the building on sherman and columbia. Cops came in and one of them got hurt. That unleashed all the police presence. Looks like the hurt cop will be ok.”

A reader nominates this photo of an “Officer practicing with youth at Sherwood Recreation Center” tweeted by MPD yesterday. The reader writes: “Nothing outrageous here, just a cop being a good guy and doing some of that community policing folks are always talking about.”

Though a commenter alleges disturbing info about the assault:
“As always, the details are so much more disturbing than what MPD shared. The rapist claimed he was maintenance, and presumably the poor woman opened the door for him – so this mention of getting in through an “unlocked” door is misleading (no word on how he got in the building though). Good news – he was caught!”

Readers report anywhere from 8-10 came from the vicinity of 7th and P Street, NW around 2am. Equally concerning are reports that no police response was witnessed despite calls to 911. Anyone else hear these shots?

The alleged burglar enters around minute 1:49 on this video. A reader sends from Stronghold and says it took place October 2nd at 1:30pm and stolen was “Jewelry, passports, GoPro. And stole the camera that was taping him!!”
