“Dear PoPville,

Want to give a head’s up to folks about assault/mugging in the area by a group of teens. Last night my 70 year old mother and I were assaulted at 14th and Farragut around 7:45 PM. This is the intersection at LAMB and John Lewis, a relatively safe area given the two schools and cameras, however a group of 4 young males snuck up behind us and pinned my arms down and pushed me down to the ground. Two stood over me and two cornered my mother against the fence demanding our property. I told them we had nothing which we did, literally did not even have my phone on me. They finally were satisfied and walked away up 14th. I have no idea where they popped out from because no one was behind me when I crossed the street and walked up the block, so they popped out of somewhere and got me when I stopped to see who was behind me.

Thanks to the kind neighbors who opened their door and gave us water when we banged on it asking for help. Also, thanks to the OUC and the MPD as everything worked as it should. 911 answered the call immediately, police were dispatched and came and did canvassing to try to find the perpetrators. Not a great end to a challenging day, but I am grateful the system worked.

Caution to my fellow neighbors and walkers. Seemed like they were lurking in the area. If you live in the area and your camera caught anything, the police are canvassing.”
