“The Metropolitan Police Department announces the arrest of two suspects in a non-contact shooting that occurred in the Eckington neighborhood.
On Thursday, February 27, 2025, at approximately 1:51 p.m., Fifth District officers responded to the reports of sounds of gunshots in the 1700 block of 3rd Street, Northeast. Officers located evidence of a shooting and property damage but did not locate a shooting victim.

“Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb announced that Office of the Attorney General (OAG) successfully resolved seven investigations into employers suspected of violating DC laws protecting DC workers and key workplace rights. Under the terms of seven separate settlement agreements, these employers—including American University, VIDA Fitness, Insomnia Cookies, a medical staffing firm, a translation company, a café, and a dinner theater—will pay more than $860,000 to harmed workers and the District, and have agreed to reform their workplace practices. “After the midair collision near Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport (DCA) that killed 67 people, Congresswoman Eleanor Holmes Norton (D-DC) wrote Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth urging the Department of Defense (DoD) to permanently cease transporting VIPs in the National Capital Region (NCR) by helicopter, with exceptions for the president, vice president and in national emergencies.
“The convenience of government officials should not take precedence over aviation safety and the quiet enjoyment of residents of the NCR,” Norton wrote.

“7 secret service police cruisers in the middle of Connecticut Ave in Woodley right now. Someone is in custody in the back of one of the cruisers and another passenger is collecting stuff from the car. Driver in custody. Stolen car suspected according to another bystander.”

“Chief Pamela A. Smith and the Metropolitan Police Department announce the arrest of two juvenile female suspects in connection to an egregious assault recorded on video that occurred in Northeast.
On Wednesday, February 19, 2025, members of the Metropolitan Police Department became aware of videos of assaults circulating on social media. Detectives determined one of the videos captured an assault that occurred in the First District.
During the assault, multiple juvenile suspects approached the female victim as she walked outside of Union Station. The suspects assaulted the woman, repeatedly punching and kicking her. One of the suspects recorded the assault and encouraged the other suspects to continue their attack. The suspects assaulted additional victims who attempted to intervene. (more…)

“Attorney General Brian L. Schwalb today announced the first lawsuits filed by the Office of the Attorney General (OAG) under new authority granted by the DC Council to bring civil enforcement actions against dangerous drivers with large numbers of unpaid tickets for speeding, reckless driving, and other traffic violations. Under the Strengthening Traffic Enforcement, Education, and Responsibility (STEER) Act, OAG can hold these drivers accountable for their repeated illegal conduct by securing monetary judgments against them wherever they live, meaning that OAG can sue dangerous drivers who flout District traffic laws even when they live outside the District.
OAG filed today’s lawsuits against:
Andre E. Bowman, who owes the District $36,986 for 135 traffic infractions, including 94 for speeding.
Earl D. Curtis, who owes the District $27,882 for 115 traffic infractions, including 52 for speeding.
Leon L. Carter, who owes the District $30,666 for 84 traffic infractions, including 80 for speeding.
