Three Shot around 7pm near the Dave Thomas Circle last night, “offenders were arrested”

“On March 1, 2020, members of the Fifth District responded to the 100 block of New York Avenue NE for the report of a shooting. Officers located two adult males in a vehicle in the 1400 block of First Street NE suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. As officers were rendering aid to the two victims a third adult male was located at a gas station at the intersection of Florida Avenue NE and P Street NE. The third male was also suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. All three of the males sustained serious, but not life threatening injuries.

During the course of the investigation a semi-automatic handgun was located and the offenders were arrested. (more…)

Two Juveniles Shot in Shaw on Rhode Island Ave Sunday Afternoon

Update from MPD:

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Sunday, March 1, 2020, in the 600 block of S Street, Northwest.

At approximately 2:08 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for the report of sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located a juvenile male suffering from a gunshot wound. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to an area hospital for treatment. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. Additionally, officers located a second juvenile male victim in the 600 block of Rhode Island Avenue, Northwest, suffering from a gunshot wound. The second victim was transported to an area hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

The decedent has been identified as 13 year-old Malachi Lukes, of Northwest, DC. (more…)

2:45am Shooting on Georgia Ave near Howard University

From MPD around 2:45am: “Shooting in the 2700 hundred block of Georgia Avenue NW. Lookout for Gray sedan occupied by (1) short B/M with glasses and (3) females. Unknown direction.

The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 2700 block of Georgia Ave NW. An adult male is being treated at an area hospital for a non life threatening gunshot wound to the upper body.

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.

Stabbing at 14th and Rhode Island Ave, NW around 12:15pm

I’ve gotten many messages about a big police response in Logan Circle this afternoon. I have not gotten confirmation from MPD yet but readers on the scene have heard this was a stabbing and:

“there was a lot of blood”

“They are hosing blood off of the sidewalk rn”

Update from MPD:

“MPD is investigating a stabbing that occurred at approx. 11:45 am this morning, in the 1300 block of 14th St, NW. The victim was transported to an area hospital for non-life threatening injuries. This case remains under active investigation.”

“My neighbor’s dog was stolen from her yard Saturday at 4th and L St. NE.”

My neighbor’s dog was stolen from her yard Saturday at 4th and L St. NE. We are desperate trying to get the word out. All of our neighbors are coming together, doing whatever we can to get this puppy home. This has been reported it to the police and animal control. “Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Third District announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun) offense that occurred on Saturday, January 11, 2020, in the 1300 block of Columbia Road, Northwest.

At approximately 4:14 pm, members of the Third District responded to the listed location for the report of the sound of gunshots. Upon arrival, officers located two adult male victims, conscious and breathing, suffering from gunshot wounds. (more…)

A reader reports: “Friend just heard 8-10 gun shots around 9th & Rhode Island NW. A lot of police and ambulances lined up along Rhode Island.”

From MPD sent at 1:52pm:

“The Third District is investigating a shooting at 901 Rhode Island Ave NW, one adult male with a gunshot wound in the leg, non-critical. Traffic will be blocked in the area, to include800-900 b/o Rhode Island Ave NW, 8th and R. Please avoid the area until traffic is opened back up.” (more…)
