From MPD last night:

“Earlier today, members of the Fifth District Crime Suppression Unit (CST) were conducting focused enforcement in the 1100 block of 21st Street, NE. While engaged in those enforcement efforts, CST officers recovered FIVE separate weapons stashed in the area. Readers report: “there was a stabbing this morning on Champlain St. NW near the corner of Kalorama. The ambulance arrived a little after 7 but not sure when the stabbing occurred.”

Update from MPD:

“On May 28, 2020, at approximately 4:10 PM an adult male was walking in the 1500 block of Meridian Pl, NW when Suspects 1,2, and 3 ran eastbound down the northern sidewalk firing multiple times at the victim.

The victim was treated at a local area hospital for non-life-threatening injuries. Suspects 1,2, and 3 got into the suspect’s vehicle and fled north on 16th St, NW.

The suspect’s descriptions are as follows:

Suspect-1: B/M, thin, Grey hoodie, jeans, white shoes

Suspect-2: B/M, heavier set, black top, jeans, black shoes

Suspect-3: B/M, White sweat top, dark pants, white shoes

Suspect-4: Unknown getaway driver

Suspect’s vehicle: grey 4 door sedan last seen on 16th St, NW, north from Meridian Pl, NW

This case is under investigation by the Fourth District Detectives Office. If you have any information please contact 202-727-9099.”

“Alert: Shooting , 1500 block of Meridian Pl NW. Lookout for a black male, red hoody, black jeans, blue shoes”

April reports: “Sounded like 7 gunshots in Columbia Heights about ten minutes ago. Perhaps 16th and Meridian Pl?”

Alex reports: “another broad daylight shooting on Meridian Place NW. Four shots and bystanders walking on the opposite side of the street. This has to end.” (more…)


Readers report starting around 1:20/1:25pm: “gunshots in Shaw. Maybe 12 or so. We’re at 7th and T. Can’t tell exactly where it was.”

“just heard some serious gunshots (or what sounded like them) near the Shaw Metro stop – 7th & S Sts NW. Anyone know what’s going on?”

Update from MPD:

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 1700 block of 8th Street NW. An adult male has been located at an area hospital with a non life threatening injury.

Motorists and pedestrians can expect road closures in the area as we investigate.

Earlier around 12:45pm: “I have no idea how this happened, honestly I tune out all noise these days and didn’t notice until after cops were already on the scene. Anyone else know what led up to this?”

One reader reported: “It was crazy! He accelerated and didn’t even swerve. Almost like he mixed up the gas and the brake or something. No clue what could have caused it though cause nothing was in the road on anything”

Yesterday on twitter @PoPville I was asked about the huge police presence on Benning Road. So much worse than I could even imagine.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Fifth District announce an arrest has been made in reference to an Assault with Intent to Kill while Armed (Knife) and First Degree Cruelty to Children offense that occurred on Wednesday, May 27, 2020, in the 1700 block of Benning Road, Northeast.

At approximately 5:48 pm, members of the Fifth District responded to the listed location for the report of a stabbing. Upon arrival, officers located a two year-old female, suffering from multiple stab wounds. (more…)

Reana first reported at 12:06am: “Multiple what I assume shots fired around Sherman and Irving. Fireworks were going on earlier, but this definitely seemed like shots.”

Many others reported up to 12 shots fired and a very quick police response.

“The Third District is currently investigating a shooting in the 2900 block of Sherman Avenue NW. An adult male has been transported to an area hospital with a non life threatening gunshot wound to the upper body. Patrol units in the area have several persons of interest detained and multiple firearms recovered.

4th and K Street, NW

Kate sends around 12:45am: “first the race of cars up New York Ave and now gunshots and tons of cars outside on 4th and K”

Alyssa reports:

“Around 12:36am, we heard 6-7 gun shots sounded like it came from 4th and K St NW. We saw two young males run east on K St. We called 911. Then another young male flagged down a police van and the van followed him to in front of the building under construction at 4th and K St. 3-5 mins later a fire engine and two ambulances joined them in front of the construction.

Earlier tonight we watched a 10+ car pursuit of an armed carjacker who stole a gold Equinox on the same street.

Summer 2020 in DC. And so it begins.”

Update on Monday morning’s shooting near the Petworth metro from MPD:

“The Fourth District officers responded to a sounds of gun shot call in the 800 block of Randolph Street, NW (11:21am). A preliminary investigation revealed that the suspect pulled a handgun out and threatened the complainant. The complainant, who has a Firearms Registration Certificate and Concealed Carry Permit, drew his weapon and fired two shots striking the suspect twice, (more…)
