Yesterday around 3pm readers reported to us: “We just heard a bunch of loud pops all in a row (maybe 15 mins ago), now there is a huge police presence on Mt. Pleasant just south of Kenyon. Any news?”

“I drove by, looked like a cop was picking up shell casings.”

“My sister spoke with the police. Sounds like shooting but no one was hurt or hit. They closed down Mt. Pleasant for a while.”

From MPD:

“On Thursday, June 25th, 2020, at approximately 1:00 am, Montgomery County Police were in the area of the 300 block of Rittenhouse ST NW, in reference to a stolen vehicle investigation. The officers located the vehicle that they were looking for, which was occupied at the time. One of the passengers in the vehicle leaned out of the car and fired several shots at the Montgomery County Officer. The officer was not struck, but his vehicle sustained damage from the gunfire.

We are currently looking for 2 suspects. The first male was wearing all black. The second male had on a white tank top and black pants with a white strip. They were last seen traveling from the area in black Nissan Altima with Maryland Temp tags.

Anyone with any information is encouraged to call MPD on 202-727-9099.”
