Update from MPD:

“The Metropolitan Police Department is investigating a shooting that injured two women early Sunday in Northwest.

On Sunday, May 11, 2025, at approximately 3:25 a.m., First District officers responded to report of a shooting in the 600 block of H Street, Northwest. Officers arrived and found evidence of a shooting, but no shooting victims. A short time later, two adult females arrived at an area hospital suffering gunshot wounds sustained in this incident. Both women were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.

“The Metropolitan Police Department announces two arrests in an armed carjacking that occurred in the Navy Yard area.

On Friday, May 9, 2025, at approximately 12:08 p.m., the suspects approached the victim, who was exiting their car, in the 1200 block of 4th Street, Southeast. One of the suspects brandished a handgun and demanded the victim’s car keys. After obtaining the victim’s keys, the suspects fled the scene in the victim’s vehicle. (more…)



12th and U Street, NW

“The Metropolitan Police Department’s Major Crash Investigations Unit is investigating a fatal pedestrian hit and run crash that occurred early Wednesday morning in Northwest.

On Wednesday, May 7, 2025, at approximately 4:15 a.m., Third District officers responded to the intersection of 12th Street and U Street, Northwest for the report of a crash. On scene officers located an adult male lying in the roadway unconscious and not breathing after being struck by a vehicle. The man was transported to an area hospital where after all lifesaving measures failed, he was pronounced dead.

The preliminary investigation indicates the pedestrian was struck by a white Hyundai Santa Fe while in a marked crosswalk at the intersection. The striking vehicle fled the scene.

The decedent has been identified as 55-year-old Donnel Bracket Phillips, of Northeast, DC.

Detectives believe that prior to the crash the suspect vehicle was involved in the two robbery offenses listed below: (more…)
