“Dear PoPville,
I was walking on the MBT between V & W St (Saturday) around 4pm when a couple of teenagers on bikes approached from the opposite direction. They looked to be about 14 or 15. One of them rode in front of me and hit me in the chest as he passed by. I think the main intent was
to spill the coffee I was holding, but he smacked me pretty hard. A police officer on a motorcycle rode up shortly after and tried to chase after them but did not catch them. When the officer came back I was able to make a report. He told me they were patrolling the MBT more heavily because of the recent snatch robberies of headphones but hadn’t heard of an assault for a while.
I wanted to reach out to warn people (other women especially) to be vigilant when on the MBT. Another group of women who walked by when I was giving my statement said they saw the same teens earlier who yelled at them to “get out of the way bitch.” I go on the MBT frequently and have never felt unsafe, especially during the day when it is crowded, but now I’m hesitant to go back.“
