“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Sexual Assault Unit are seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect in connection with an Assault with Intent to Commit First Degree Sexual Abuse offense that occurred on Monday, October 4, 2021, inside of a parking garage in the 2000 block of G Street, Northwest.

“Detectives from the Metropolitan Police Department’s Homicide Branch are investigating a homicide that occurred on Saturday, October 2, 2021, in the 1300 block of Half Street, Southwest.

At approximately 11:08 pm, members of the First District responded to the listed location for the sounds of gunshots. Upon arrival, members located two adult males and an adult female suffering from gunshot wounds. (more…)

“Today, Mayor Muriel Bowser announced the five identified focus areas for the 2021 Fall Crime Prevention Initiative (FCPI). These areas include:

Columbia Heights (Third District)
Brightwood Park (Fourth District)
Benning (Sixth District)
Historic Anacostia (Seventh District)
Washington Highlands/Bellevue (Seventh District)

“There is no place where gun violence is acceptable in our city,” said Mayor Bowser. “This is precisely why we are committed to making sure that we are investing in targeted programs and initiatives that protect our residents and bring resources to the communities that need it most.”

The Fall Crime Prevention Initiative runs from October 1st to December 18th, and focuses all available MPD resources and the latest crime-fighting technology in an effort to eliminate violent crimes in the specified areas. (more…)

“On September 29, 2021, at approximately 10:40 AM, First District patrol officers responded to the intersection of 12th & D ST SE. The complainant reported that a dark colored sedan, with four male individuals inside, pulled up alongside of his vehicle. One of the males was armed with a handgun and pulled the complainant out of his vehicle as another male stole personal property from the victim’s pockets. (more…)
