We also apparently think Yuengling is our favorite beer, margaritas are our favorite cocktail and lemon drops are our favorite shots according to their survey.

Well this sounds awesome:
“the story….
For the past two years we have been pestering Boundary Stone to feature a cheesesteak special. The idea itself is conceptually mind-blowing…….DC’s very own Boundary Stone Public House of Note, relying on their Philadelphia roots, to produce a cheesesteak the likes of which DC has never seen.
Chef Vin and Co. always insisted they would love to do it but one detail kept them from creating this gift for the people…….THE BREAD. Chef Vin insisted a cheesesteak without a roll from Sarcone’s Bakery would never come out of his kitchen. This was indeed the truth.
Seasons past, springs turned to summers and summers to falls. Finally, we could bear it no longer. DC Brau co-founder and fellow Cheesesteak Enthusiast, Brandon (More-Cheese-Please) Skall agreed to drive to Sarcone’s in Philadelphia and pick up the freshly baked righteous rolls and drive them poste haste DIRECTLY to The Stone.
now boundary stone and dc brau give you…

“The Oktoberfest Brewery Bicycle Tour, sponsored by Bardo Brewpub and beer garden, starts at the Metropolitan Branch Trail & Brookland-Catholic University Metro station at 1pm. Then on to DC Brau, the Arboretum and New Columbia distillery for tours and tastings. Finally, the tour will head to the Bardo beer garden at 1200 Bladensburg Road for pints, Oktoberfest beers, cornhole and a food truck.
Riders are encouraged to wear their best dirndls, lederhosen, swiss alpine hunting hats and anything else they feel indicative of Oktoberfest.
The ride (including stops) will cover 6 miles plus the Arboretum section of 2 miles. Riders will make it to Bardo by 4 p.m., with “one hour of riding and two hours of stopping”, according to grand marshal Bill Stewart.
Bardo opened in July and is, for now, an entirely outdoor brew pub. A wide selection of craft brews on draft appeal to even the snobbiest of beer geeks. Bardo is 100% dog friendly every day with 15,000 square feet in our beer garden to roam off leash and a house dog who loves to play.”

“In exactly one month, the team behind acclaimed beer destinations such as Birch & Barley, ChurchKey, Rustico and Bluejacket will host their second annual craft beer festival, Snallygaster. Named for the fearsome and mythical dragon-like beast said to terrorize the region at the turn of the century, this year’s festival will feature an even more expansive and stylistically far-reaching list of no less than 200 artisanal craft beers all handpicked by famed Beer Director Greg Engert. This year, Snallygaster is going to be held at Union Market (located at 1309 5th Street NE) on Saturday, October 19 from 1 to 6 PM. It is an event to benefit Arcadia Center for Sustainable Food & Agriculture.
This year, Snallygaster will tap 200 unique beers on the grounds of Union Market. Beer director Greg Engert has been busy sourcing an unbelievable array of craft ales and lagers for the festival all of which will be revealed leading up to the event.
The highlights include:
§ Over 75 different seasonal selections like Oktoberfests, Pumpkin Ales and Fresh-Hop Harvest brews
§ 16 singular rubber-clad gravity kegs sourced from Franconia, Germany; the largest one-time collection ever assembled for our region
§ 6 distinct wood-clad gravity kegs serving German & Austrian specialties, including one five-foot tall 90-liter wood-clad gravity keg making its regional debut
§ No fewer than 10 authentic cask ales, featuring classic selections, as well as, cask debuts from both established and new British & American producers
§ An ever-growing list of crazy scarce drafts from across the USA and beyond
§ The DC debut of rare brews from a number of new local brewers
§ At least 25 kegs and casks never before seen in the District (more…)

Congrats to the folks at DC Brau. From The Street:
“5. DC Brau Brewing
2011 production: 1,698 barrels
2012 production: 5,002 barrels
Growth rate: 195%
DC Brau’s reach has expanded throughout Maryland and Virginia and the brewery’s output has nearly tripled. Community outreach is the key to success for any small brewer, but DC Brau has just put on a clinic for breweries looking to fill their city’s beer void.”

“Dear PoPville,
I wanted to let you know how thrilled I am that shaws tavern has lowered their beer prices down to a reasonable level. I know dc is expensive and I’m not one to complain about it, but when I saw shaws beer prices were way out of line with similar locales, it pissed me off.
So, I am so excited that their prices are good now, and happy hour draft beers are still $2 off!
I specifically remember that Boston lager was $7, magic hat was $9, and pbr was $5. Now they are all cheaper!”
