1216 18th Street, NW at the corner of Jefferson just off Connecticut Ave
Finally an opening date for the former Guitar Shop space located right about Dupont’s Shake Shack.
We previously learned it would be an:
“Upscale tavern serving European sausages, hotdogs, pretzels and popcorns featuring DJ and background music. No designated dance floor – no dancing. Summer Garden with 210 seats. Seating capacity is 60. Total occupancy load is 330.”
Now we have a name – Sauf Haus – coming this summer:

From a press release:
“Atlas Brew Works today announced that it will host the chamber ensemble All Points West at its Ivy City facility [2052 West Virginia Ave NE] on Saturday, February 15 from 1 – 6 PM. Admission to the rehearsal is free, and tastings and pints are $5. Visitors will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets to any of the Atlas INTERSECTIONS Festival events.
All Points West is a D.C. based chamber ensemble “hell-bent on transforming the classical concert back into a fun, social experience.”
Atlas INTERSECTIONS Festival gathers innovative artists and richly diverse audiences for eight days of over 100 boundary-crossing arts performances and events from February 21 to March 8 at the Atlas Performing Arts Center. For more info: www.intersectiondc.org.

Washington Post reports:
“Megan Parisi, the veteran brewer who was hired at Bluejacket with considerable fanfare in 2012, has parted ways with the brewery and restaurant less than three months after the operation opened near the Navy Yard. Her last day was Friday, Jan. 17.”
Ed. Note: Earlier this month we looked at a review of the Arsenal restaurant in the Bluejacket Brewery.

2218 Wisconsin Avenue, NW
I totally forgot about this when I spotted the architectural plans for Mad Fox Brewing Company coming to the former Mayfair and Pine space. From the press release back in August:
“Mad Fox Brewing Company announced that it will expand to Washington, DC, with plans to open a 4,590 square foot taproom at 2218 Wisconsin Avenue, NW in Glover Park. Mad Fox Brewing Company Taproom (Mad Fox Taproom), a 127-seat neighborhood establishment, is slated to open by the end of first quarter 2014, depending on the renovations needed and the permitting process.”
You can read the full press release here. You can see Mad Fox’s beer menu here and food menus here.

Since demo hasn’t started yet, looks like it’ll likely open after the 1st quarter of 2014. Updates when they get closer.

From 3 Stars Brewing:
“Our Reserve Society guarantees our members access to 5 limited release beers throughout 2014, a 10% discount on purchases in the DC Homebrew Shop, special growler fills in our Tasting Room and invitations to our quarterly special events before tickets go on sale to the public. Our specialty beer allocations vary depending on our production levels, but Reserve members are typically guaranteed the ability to purchase our exclusive and hard to find beers via special release as they go on sale throughout the year.
The Illuminati Reserve Society is ideal for people who want to ensure they can get access to our specialty and one off releases.
The $100 membership pays for itself as it easily covers the cost of the 5 special releases and any other exclusive merchandise that may be offered to members in 2014.”
UPDATE: “200 memberships sold in under an hour and a half!!!”
