2450 18th St, NW

Back in Dec. 2011 McNasty’s opened up at 2450 18th St, NW in Adams Morgan. In early April 2012 the owners explained the origin of McNasty’s.

Apparently the explanation wasn’t good enough because we now have a new name for the ever changing 2450 18th St, NW – it is now Shenanigans Irish Pub. And the old logo has also been changed to a much friendlier looking leprechaun:

725 T St, NW

A couple of weeks ago we learned that All Souls neighborhood bar had finally been granted its liquor license in Shaw. I took a quick look of the space at 725 T St, NW (it’s actually 2 storefronts that will be combined) so I could grab some “before” photos. Speaking with owner, David Batista, if all goes well they plan on opening on Halloween. More info as construction progresses.

More photos after the jump. (more…)

Dear PoPville,

I was reading the recent ‘Judging Bars’ article and comments. At one point someone asked ‘ Where do you cheap bastards find beers for less than $5, and mixed drinks for less than $10?’, and it spawned a flurry of responses.

My question is would you be so kind to pose a similar question so readers can share which bars they get the best bang for their buck at and why? DC is full of all kinds of bars that many people never wander into and a new resident myself loves finding out about the off the beaten path places that the locals know about.

DC Reynolds has a pretty sweet happy hour at 3628 Georgia Ave, NW:

“HAPPY HOUR!
Monday-Friday, 5-9pm
ANY drink, buy one, get one free!
Yes, every weekday”

Where do you guys recommend?

3412 Connecticut Ave, NW

Back in July 2011 we first heard some scuttlebutt that the Ireland’s Four Fields, formerly 4Ps would be closing at 3412 Connecticut Ave, NW in Cleveland Park. In May 2012 we heard an upscale Irish pub run by the folks behind McFadden’s would move into the space though the anticipated date of opening is unknown. What is known is that tonight is the 4Ps closing party. Owner Frank Hughes writes:

“Wednesday June 27 – Closing Party. We are closing this location forever. Drink the Bar Dry!”

Farewell 4Ps!

1426 L St, NW

Roc Bar is coming to the former Reserve space (which closed back in June 2011) that was located at 1426 L St, NW next to the Post Pub. According to a liquor license application, it will be a:

“New Tavern serving full menu grilled foods, chicken, burgers, and salads with seating for 90 patrons and total occupancy load of 90. Sidewalk café with 24 seats and entertainment endorsement with DJ and dancing.”

More info as it becomes available.
