“Just as temperatures start to creep up, Jack Rose Dining Saloon is excited to announce the reopening of its rooftop Tiki Bar for the season, starting on Thursday, July 23. The hidden bar, located just off the rooftop terrace, will be open Thursdays through Saturdays with refreshing tropical cocktails, island-inspired fare and a special “Tiki Thursdays” Happy Hour. Transporting guests to the tropics, boozy flavors of coconut, pineapple and passion fruit will fill ceramic Tiki mugs, while fresh shrimp and whiskey wings will come hot off the grill.

Jack Rose’s craft bartenders are combining fresh fruit juices, quality rums and even jalapeno-infused whiskey, in a special tropical menu of Tiki cocktails. These refreshing, boozy concoctions are all $13, and available for half-off at $6.50 during “Tiki Thursdays” happy hour:

The Tiki Bar will also offer a selection of refreshing canned and bottled summer brews for $6 ($5 during Tiki Thursdays happy hour), such as Boulevard Ginger Lemon Radler, Victory Summer Love, Devil’s Backbone Trail Angel, and Troegs Sunshine Pils.

TIKI-INSPIRED FARE

Executive Chef Russell Jones is grilling up fresh island-inspired fare on the terrace’s wood-fired grill. Half-price on Thursdays from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m., menu items will include:

Pacific Shrimp Tacos with pickled cabbage & mango salsa ($13)

Flank Steak Tacos with charred pineapple, onion & cilantro ($13)

Pit Grilled Whiskey Wings with hot & sour dipping sauce ($11)

Jalapeno Hushpuppies with Old Bay mayo ($6)

“TIKI THURSDAYS” HAPPY HOUR

Launching on July 23 is Tiki Thursdays, a special Tiki Bar happy hour every Thursday from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. where tropical cocktails and island-inspired fare are half-price. Cocktails which are usually $13 will be $6.50, and food that ranges from $6-$13 will be $3-$6.50. All canned beers will be $5.

The Tiki Bar at Jack Rose will be open Thursdays from 5 p.m. to close (with “Tiki Thursdays” happy hour from 5 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.) and Fridays and Saturdays from 8 p.m. to close.”

“Leave the grilling to us this weekend. Dacha Beer Garden opens at noon Friday, July 3rd and will be open on the 4th of July for its normal hours of operation, 11am – midnight. We will be serving brunch till 3pm all weekend and are offering homemade ice cream sandwiches as a special treat for the holiday.

Friday’s press release from District Distilling Company projects an “early 2016 opening”.

And now we now exactly where it will be, the liquor license placard lists 1414 & 1418 U Street, NW. 1414 was the former home of Coppi’s and 1418 U Street was the former home to Utopia. The placard says:

“High-end tavern with adjacent distillery pub. Will serve high-quality menu and provide live solo and small combo performers and recorded musical entertainment with or without D.J.

Entertainment Endorsement and a Distillery Pub Permit. Seating for 157 inside and a Total Occupancy load of 170.”
