Update: Missed connection married :(

“Dear PoPville,

I was walking down Q Street between 15th and 16th St NW last night around 6:45pm (February 4) and a cute guy walked by with his golden retriever puppy. We chatted about the dog for a minute or two; he said she was three and a half months old and apologized when she tried to pull my scarf off. I wish I’d asked for the guy’s name but didn’t get the chance – here’s hoping he sees this and remembers the girl who stopped to say hi to him and his dog! (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

I had a missed connection last Saturday (January 22nd) on 14th Street. I was seated outside at Pearl Dive when a striking man walking by caught my eye. He was maybe 5’8″ – 5’10” and was wearing a gray fur-like coat. Most importantly, he was walking an adorable pug-like dog who was also wearing a fabulous furry coat. I have seen him around before, but have never been able to catch his name! I am a tall, athletic man in my 30’s with a French Bulldog. Would love to meet up for drinks with our pups!”

“Dear Popville,

I had a missed connection this afternoon at the CVS at 14th and W NW. A neighbor in need asked me if I could lend her some money to get somewhere warm today. She needed $75, and I told her I could get her half way there.

When I went inside to the ATM a tall man with brown eyes, probably in his late 30’s, approached me and asked if he could help. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Are there restaurants/bars that are doing well with following outdoor dining guidelines (e.g. only two or three walls so air still flows) that also have larger tables or spacious enough seating areas for dates with strangers or meetups with friends outside your pod so you can keep your social distance? The days of park hangs appear to be over.”

Not NoMa TJ’s, I just like the mural

“Dear PoPville,

I had a missed connection at Trader Joes on Sunday night (1/3) and I’m hoping to find him. I’d lost my wallet and was trying to figure out what to do at the register. A guy in his 20’s with long brown hair and a tan coat saw what was happening, came up, and offered several times to pay for my groceries. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Him, tall with orange and purple pedialyte, Korbel, and bread in the Safeway checkout line (Adams Morgan)–for him and his roommate as they were getting lit in their living room. He owned the fact the pedialyte was for the hangover/pre-emptive. Me–standard racially ambiguous girl with tie dye disposable mask with smuckers’ frozen sandwiches, pesto, and frozen dumplings. “Dear PoPville,

Was hoping I can find a young woman who was in front of me at the potbelly’s around noon on Saturday (12/19/2020). She was wearing a men’s bomber jacket with a backwards baseball hat. She held the door open for me and asked if I wanted to order before her. She ordered 4 chicken salad sandwiches with everything on it – I asked her if she’s feeding a family or if its all for her. She laughed and just said “i love me some chicken salad.” We then talked about how the pickled peppers make any sandwich taste good. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

This fall, I (woman, late twenties) picked up a habit of taking a long walk after my work day wrapped. Sometimes I’d pass through Logan Circle while people took their dogs out to play, and occasionally I’d notice a good-looking guy bringing his gray Frenchie by in a Batman bandana. I probably saw him a handful of times around 6 pm. This is a note to the dog dad in regard.

You: tall (6’1” or so?), black shorts and spandex best classified as “doing admirable work,” calves of an angel. (more…)

“Dear PoPville,

Around 2 pm Saturday (12/12) downtown in Chinatown right near city tap house penn quarter I was complaining to my roommate about the trump rally downtown. This 6ft tallish guy in his twenties stopped to talk to us (brown hair brown eyes blue sweatshirt I think) while he was on the phone. He said that his friends came into town and they had no idea about the rally downtown and walked into it by accident. I was complaining that I just wanted to go to Anthropologie in peace and he laughed with us. (more…)
