“Dear PoPville,

I don’t know who you all were, but thank you. I fell off my bike on H St this morning after [Sunday] getting a tire caught in the tracks and was totally disoriented and scared when all I could see was blood dripping from my head. Thank you in particular to the man who put pressure on the cut until the ambulance arrived. I’m so impressed by and thankful for my DC community that doesn’t hesitate to jump in and help. I wish I could repay you all.

From The Bike Rack:

Night Tour with DC Cycling Concierge

Yes we are pretty spoiled. We live among some of the most iconic sights in the country and the world. While almost all of us have been on the mall more times than we care to count, biking around the city at night brings a magical perspective to our great city. And chances are there will be several spots and maybe a few stops that you haven’t been to before (and/or always wondered what the deal was). (more…)

a-trail

From WABA:

“Join WABA and at-large D.C. Councilmember Elissa Silverman on Veterans Day for a ride on the newly opened segment of the Anacostia River Trail!

The Kenilworth Aquatic Gardens trail segment was a missing link in a network of 60 miles of trail between the District and Maryland. It connects Benning Road in the District with the Bladensburg Waterfront Park, creating a much more pleasant and safe route for cyclists who commute between Prince George’s County and the District. The trail also provides walkers, bicyclists, and nature lovers access to scenic stretches of the Anacostia River where one can regularly see egrets, eagles, deer, and other wildlife. (more…)

found-bike

I found a Schwinn Mountain bike in Petworth, around about a block from the metro discarded in an alley. I left it for awhile thinking maybe someone just stopped for a bit but it was moved to the sidewalk and placed upside down. Pretty sure it was stolen or maybe taken for a joy ride. The tires are flat and I didn’t see if it rode well (gears working, etc) but the frame is in good condition.”
