I’ll be taking a bit of a breather next week so I won’t be able to get to your emails until next Sun. Sept. 11th. I’ll be sure to follow up on all your emails the following week. Monday is a holiday and on Tues. and Wed. there will be a limited schedule of pre-loaded posts but on Thursday and Friday, I’m happy to say that the Lord of Petworth, Eric Nuzum, will be back at the helm! Thanks LoP. Hope everyone has a great long 3-day weekend and I’ll see ya next Monday.

Ed. Note: I hope Operation Restore Civility remains in effect while I’m gone but I apologize if some people get caught in comment moderation or inappropriate comments get through. To be extra careful try not to leave full links with the http included because it will go to a holding folder (spam issues). But if you have a good link just start it with www. ie www.princeofpetworth.com instead of http://www.princeofpetworth.com/ Cheers!

Eric Nuzum has been kind enough to take over PoP next week while I take a few days off. Eric or LoP as he has become known will post next week, though, I will also preload some houses and other good stuff. I apologize in advance for a delay in responding to emails but I’ll be sure to follow up on your tips later in the week. See ya on Thursday.

Thanks Eric!

Well, I’ve dreaded this moment but it’s time to come clean – I’m gonna be off-line next week. I have pre-loaded some posts for next week so you shouldn’t experience House of the Day withdrawal. You may, however, experience some afternoon animal fix and/or good deal or not? withdrawal, if the shakes get too bad, I recommend revisiting the animal fix archives here and GDoN archives here.

And I’m super fortunate and grateful to say that my good friend, author, occasional PoP contributorand, Petworth resident Eric Nuzum, will be helming the ship later next week. Thanks Eric!

So next week’s posting schedule may be a bit irregular. I also may not be able to get to your questions right away but rest assured they’ll still go into the queue to be answered the following week. For those commenting, I won’t be as involved so don’t kill each other. Also if you get caught in a comment “awaiting moderation” I apologize in advance! Try not to put more than one link in a comment and hopefully it won’t be too much of a pain.

In some of my pre-loaded posts, I’m sure I may have some spelling errors. I apologize in advance. Hell, I might as well take this opportunity to apologize to whomever I (or definitely Eric) will somehow offend in the coming week. I am deeply sorry.

So thanks again to Eric, please don’t kill each other, and the regular posting schedule will return Jan. 9th.

Thanks for understanding!

Ed. Note: I honestly found this bumper sticker pictured above on a door last weekend in Petworth. My last vacation was in Sept. ’06 to Peru this time I’m hitting the beach.

We’re gonna be starting up a new guest column about fun evening/weekend events.  Is there an event that you’ve always wanted to check out but haven’t had the time? It can be a regular happy hour, trivia night, music event, art event, book talk, etc.  Please let us know.

Thanks to all who made it out to last night’s happy hour (and thanks to Duffy’s for hosting). Sorry I didn’t better publicize that there was a back room… But it was great to meet so many new faces as well as catching up with the old timers. But the true star was – the gigantic connect four. There was some super serious competition.

Submit your photos to the PoPville flickr pool here. Follow PoPville on twitter here.

Fusion owner and PoP Fan, Barry, sporting last year’s t-shirt

Thanks to a reader for snapping the above photo of Fusion’s owner (4815 Georgia Ave, NW) Barry representing last year’s PoP t-shirt.

Hope many of you can make it to Duffy’s tonight where you can try to guess people’s user names.  Though of course you can remain anonymous.  But, I keep hoping one of these days I’ll get to meet ‘neener’! Remember from 6:30-7:30 feel free to bring your kids. I don’t plan on getting completely schnockered until 10pm. I look forward to seeing both the old time readers and meeting some new ones.

Remember Duffy’s is located right behind the 9:30 Club on Vermont Ave, NW (U St metro 10th St side is closest metro stop).

A reader wrote in last week suggesting that I start doing a 5pm final post. I said, I’m cool with it if you guys are. So what type of post would you like to see at 5pm? A roundup of the day’s neighborhood news? A real estate/development type post? More restaurant news? Or something real chill like an interesting architectural feature, sign, art etc? Or something all together different?

And if you have other suggestions don’t hesitate to tell me in person on Wed. at the next PoP Happy Hour at Duffy’s starting at 6:30pm.

I’ve scheduled the next PoP Happy Hour for Wed. Aug. 11th from 6:30pm – 10:30pm. Here’s what I’m thinking: I figure we can have parents with little kids swing by around 6:30 – 7:30pm and then properly defile ourselves from 8 on? I’ll have new PoP t-shirts on hand for people I owe and for those that want to purchase to some.

So here are the details – it’ll be at Duffy’s (a PoP advertiser) located right behind the 9:30 Club on Vermont Ave. Here are the specials:

$10 Pitchers of Miller lite
$2 Tall Boy PBR | High Life | Bud
$4 20oz Drafts of Guinness | Kilkenny | Yuengling | Sam’s | Sam’s Summer
$16 Pitchers of Yuengling | Sam’s | Sam’s Summer
1/2 Price Wings

See ya Wed. the 11th!
