Right? It looks like someone is getting abducted from behind. That certainly doesn’t indicate a safe place to me. Right? My safe place sign would have a picture of Elle Macpherson, a few meximelts from Taco Bell, some Dunkin Donuts coffee and maybe a couple of bottles of Budweiser. Then I’d know it was a safe place for sure.

Outside DC USA this past Saturday there was a very nice lady selling bags of fruits and vegetables. Normally I go with the mangoes but this time I went with the cucumbers. It was an excellent choice. The woman put fresh lime juice and a bunch of salt on it. It was, I dare say, the perfect summer snack.  (For the curious it was $2.)

From an email:

“Friends –

At the Board of Library Trustees meeting Wednesday night, July 23,
2008, Chief Librarian Ginnie Cooper presented a grim picture of the
FY2009 Library Budget and staffing plan. While the Library Budget
will go up slightly (by $16,000), that budget includes $5.6 million
in earmarked enhancements and the elimination of 74 library
positions. This is a 14% reduction in the staffing for DC Public
Libraries. The DC Public Library needs $2 million by October 1, 2008
or the Library will be forced to drastically cut the hours of
operation of all our libraries.  Continues after the jump.  (more…)

The “house” with the awesome mural is for sale/rent. It is located at 1020 Girard. I have no idea how much but it seems like someone could make this into a pretty fresh abode.

In and of itself not super cool. But since this is fronting a parking spot I thought it was pretty cool that there was such a nice garden in an ordinarily scrappy place.

I thought this was a bit odd. It is located on 14th Street as you are walking towards Florida Ave on the eastern side of the street. What is it being used for? Is this kosher?
