Apple the Yorkie whose story was shared last Monday is doing fantastic. In just one week, she has blossomed from matted, starving, and unsure into the most confident, bright, and loving dog you’ll ever meet. She wants to be held and snuggled 24/7 (and isn’t shy about vocalizing this desire), she LOVES playing with stuffies (pink sparkly Lamb Chop is her favorite), and she recently discovered that belly rubs are bliss. This morning in a bout of frustration I posted on our social media channels:

“Perhaps DC should issue some guidance about what we should do if our trash has STILL not been collected coming on week 3. Should we stack bags next to our cans? You have said collection would be back to normal last Monday. Please be aware that did not happen for all. Please advise us what to do while we wait.”

“Dear PoPville,

Any intel on the boulangerie moving into the Radici space? They’ve been working on it for seemingly forever. This (above) is essentially how the place has looked for MONTHS. I haven’t been able to see inside since they started work, but I heard they’re gutting the place?”

Good news to share! “We’re still waiting on the final Certificate of Occupancy and then we’re going to be good to go!

From DC Water last night around 10pm:

“Northbound lanes of 14th St NW, from L St to Thomas Circle, remain closed due to the risk of roadway collapse over an abandoned sewer tunnel. Detours are in place. Closure expected through the end of the week, weather permitting. Thx for your patience.”

DC Water is taking emergency measures with the immediate and ongoing closure of all northbound lanes of 14th Street between L Street NW and Thomas Circle, due to the imminent risk of collapse posed by an abandoned, century-old, brick-lined sewer tunnel beneath the roadway. (more…)
