“Dear PoPville,
Yesterday (4/22) around 11am I found a small, collarless dog wandering around the Dupont metro (south exit). Several other commuters also stopped, but she did not belong to anyone in the area. I brought her to Dupont Veterinary Clinic, who scanned for a chip but did not find one.
I’ve reached out to (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
My husband and I just bought a house on Quackenbos Street.
There is a point of contention: Is it pronounced quack-en-BOSS or quack-en-BOSE? We’ve heard both pronunciations and Google isn’t giving a well-cited answer.
Any insight would be amazing!”
What’s the way you say it?!?

My friend and I spotted a mama duck and her 13 ducklings stuck in the empty fountain at City Center. Thankfully, (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Do you know what is happening with Pop’s bagels in Mount Pleasant? They were open but the last few times I’ve tried to go they were inexplicably closed when online it said they should be open. No permanently closed sign or online post…
They are/were great to have in the neighborhood.”
Pop’s Bagels popped up in the IL Supremo Italian building (3209 Mount Pleasant Street, NW) back in October.
Sadly this pop up has indeed concluded.
However the proprietor of Pops tells me: (more…)

“Dear PoPville,
Location: Trinidad
Not all heroes wear capes. I was walking with a friend crossing Florida to northbound Staples St NE at approximately 2 PM on Saturday 18 April 2026. My friend and I looked west-northwest on the south side of Florida Ave, and approximately in front of 1322 Florida Ave NE, we saw someone moving a Lime bike. It was perpendicular to the eastbound bike lane, completely blocking the path. This good samaritan was removing it from the bike lane and putting it on the sidewalk, parallel to the path of travel and out of the way.
I am raising awareness about two things: (more…)
