Never let a small yard hold you back. Everyone of these pots was filled with herbs. That’s a lot of salad…

This house was super wild because it was the only house on a commercial strip. Literally the only one. I’ve never seen this before. It’d be like all of a sudden if there was a house in the middle of U Street between 13th and 14th… (From Brookland).

I’ve been super curious about the building at the corner of 13th and W. It has been fenced up for a while but I’ve finally seen a for sale sign that now says under contract. I suppose it’s likely to become a bodega. It’ll be great to get that eyesore fixed up.

And it looks like you will soon be able to get your wine on for another hour in the near future. The petition says, from Mon.-Wed. they’ll be applying to stay open until 1am instead of 12am and from Thurs.-Sun. they’ll be staying open until 2am from 1am. Nice.

I’m a huge fan of Woodley Place. So I’m always interested to see what these rowhomes are going for. This home is going for $959,000. What do you think of the home itself?

Duccini’s is located at 1778 U St, NW. I’m always on the hunt for good pizza and we’ve certainly discussed the topic at length. But I think it’s worth exploring good slices of pizza. I enjoy Moronis and Red Rocks etc. But sometimes I’m just looking for a slice. I think hands down Vace’s (Cleveland Park) has the best per slice pizza. Pete’s (Columbia Heights) is also good. But I’m wondering if there are other good per slice places. So how’s Duccini’s? Any other recommendations for per slice spots?

Last week Raz looked at the Embassies from Passport DC .

As a follow-up to my Saturday excursion at Passport DC last weekend, I checked out the EU Embassies’ Open House this Saturday. I was crunched for time with a weekend of Mother’s Day activities, so I just stopped by the Poland and Lithuania embassies, which are on 16th St, right near Meridian Hill Park. I live in Mt. Pleasant, so those were the only two closeby.

I am sad to say that I was not too impressed with this event. I should have known that it wouldn’t be as good as last weekend when I didn’t see any line outside the embassies. The Poland embassy has beautiful details in its architecture and decoration. They were serving some kind of perogi and sausage. There was a long line and I wasn’t hungry, so I skipped over that to try a sip of Polish beer, which wasn’t my cup of tea. There was a long line for the food and they were running out of things. I heard someone joke that it was like the Soviet days.

The Lithuanian embassy was a more modern building with glass doors and a lot of light. They had some photographs and artwork on display. They had a beautiful dining room with a gorgeous chandelier.

I had a lot more fun at the Passport DC event last weekend. There were a lot of special events, activities and demonstrations. Maybe I chose two embassies that did not have as much to offer as the others, but for a short walk down the street, I was glad to have seen what a few more embassies look like on the inside.

Anyone have a better experience?

Thanks to a reader for sending the photo. It looks like it has been pretty well contained. I’m surprised it wasn’t the vacant (red) house on the corner as that house has been boarded up for ages.

From DCFireEMS on Twitter, it was a first floor fire with no injuries and is now out.
