This is from the unit block of R Street, NW. I’ll let the photos do the talking: (more…)

This one has a lot going on. You can see right away that there is a cool stained glass transom but if you look through the external glass doors the inner door has stained glass as well. Pretty fresh. I can only imagine there is a pretty sweet vestibule as well…

Another from Capitol Hill. I’m totally digging that window/balcony.

Les Yeux dans les Bleus is a penetrating documentary following the victorious French

compelling. He shares their rituals, their doubts, their joys, their exploits and in the end,
their conquest, as if we were with them.

Sons of Sakhnin United & Special Soccer Reading
FRIDAY, OCTOBER 16
Events start at 7pm at Busboys and Poets
Directed by: Christopher and Alexander Browne
After becoming the first Israeli-Arab team to win the Israel State Cup in 2004, BNei Sakhnin comes under added pressure. This intense documentary follows the team, based in a small Arab town in northern Israel,as it struggles to survive in the Israeli Premier League amid the ethnic tensions that plague the country.
Unsentimental and careful, Sons of Sakhnin United focuses its lens on both sides of the divide, and does its best to show how the action on the field can transcend the events off it. When Sakhnin captain Abbas Suan is called into the Israeli National Team for an important match against Ireland, the tension is palpable, the outcome bittersweet.
The film will be introduced by director Christopher Browne.”

The reader writes:
“A for sale sign just went up at the house on the corner of 13th and W Streets NW. This one breaks my heart because it
looked like it used to be a corner store and would have been a great place for a little neighborhood market or cafe.”
I agree with the reader that this would have made a great little cafe but I’m definitely still happy it is no longer an ugly eyesore. What do you think of the renovation? It nearly made house porn status – it’s going for $974,900…

You can talk about whatever is on your mind – quality of life issues, a beautiful tree you spotted, scuttlebutt, or any random questions/thoughts you may have. I’ll open this thread every Monday and Friday. So anything good happen to you this weekend?

This is terrifying. I feel like I’ve been reading about a lot of carjackings lately. Not sure exactly what you can do about something like this happening at 3pm on a Sunday…
“There was also an armed carjacking yesterday at 3pm on 12th and C NE. It didn’t make the papers, but it was reported in the 1D police list serve.”

Thanks to CM Graham for sending me the update. I know lots of folks have been asking about this. The email also said that CVS estimates opening for business next summer.

“Dear PoP,
Walking home on Columbia road Sat. night near 17th there was a large area of police tape and what appeared to be markers of where there were shell casings. There were a bunch of police cars as well. This was at 4:00 AM.”
Yikes. Any Adams Morgan residents have the scoop on what happened?
UPDATE Just got word from MPD:
“At approximately 2:30 am, this morning at Columbia Road and Euclid Street Northwest, two suspects shot at two victims after a verbal dispute. There were no injuries.
One of the suspects was arrested by the officers working in Adams Morgan; however, the second suspect has not been apprehended at this time.
Two handguns were recovered.
The Third District Detective’s Office is currently investigating the matter.
Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Metropolitan Police Department on 202-727-9099.”
