“Dig Inn, the fast-casual restaurant brand serving seasonal, scratch-cooked comfort food, is continuing its expansion in the Washington, D.C. area with a new location in the West End neighborhood. Dig Inn West End will open on October 22 at 2050 M Street NW. This will be the Northeast-based company’s second fast-casual restaurant in the District. Dig Inn will donate all profits from the West End lunch previews on October 20 and 21 to Martha’s Table—a continuation of the company’s commitment to giving back to nonprofits that focus on eradicating hunger and providing healthy meals to area denizens.

What the Helen of Troy Happened to the Trees at the Kennedy Center!?! Willow trees gone

Update from a reader:

“I was told that the garden beds the willows are in are very shallow so every few years they start to die off. One was really sick and not looking great and another fell over in one of the recent storms so they went ahead and cut them all down. The were replanted a couple of years ago when one of the theater houses had finished its latest remodel. No word on if they will be replanted or if something else will be replanted in its place.”

“At a private celebration last month, CulturalDC’s Board of Directors announced that the organization would sunset operations after more than 27 years of transforming the District’s arts and culture scene. This decision follows the sale of the historic Source building in August 2025, which CulturalDC originally purchased in October 2006 to preserve and redevelop as a multi-use performing arts space. The sale marked a significant milestone in the organization’s journey to reimagine how it invests in artists and the future of DC’s creative community.
